Xlaw, Welcome to the site. Sorry I am not sure if I understand, are you saying that you have downloaded the firmware from your player and modified it and when you try to upload it you are having problem?

If this is so then the only thing I can think of is when you download your firmware using s1fwx you must run the repair.bat before you can upload it back to your machine.

You should also register so you can edit your posts.

Xlaw, Modifying your own firmware is quite safe, there is very little that can go wrong when uploading your own backup dump.bin.

When you finish your theme please share it with us.

xlaw, It depends on the problem, If the player is still recognised by your computer then you should be able to recover normally with your backup.

If your computer does not recognise your player or your player will not turn on then you will have to do a dead player recovery, still possible if you have a backup.

But if you are looking for a 100% guarantee sorry there is none.
