myPod | iPod-like Theme with two interfaces to pick from

hi all,

this is my first theme based on nabilash's great work. i am calling it "myPod" for now.

unfortunately, for my player (using 3.5.37), his files could not be used 1-to-1. so, i decided to create my own with his files as inspiration.

here is the first one: standard iPod list view...

http://malekzadeh.net/download/my_menu.gif

i added a scroll bar and played with 2 font sizes.

my second one, is a carousel, or looped interface:

http://malekzadeh.net/download/loop_menu.gif

for this, i borrowed heavily from the OSX look and feel (as well as the iTunes store).

if anyone is interested, i can try to post these files as a zip (i am new here and am still figuring tings out).

also: i have started updating the lower level menus, but am running into issues with my player not refreshing the screen as i move the cursor around (leaves a white space where the cursor was). we'll see.

You can download it from here. (please see the updated file for download further down on the page).

thanks,
doon

hi folks,

sorry for the radio silence. work has kept me busy...

uploading the images (as a ZIP) now.

well, i am glad these have resonated with the group!

thanks,
doon

Ko: i imagine you are breaking up the GIF ani and using the individual images, right? let me send you the original files atleast. this way the gradients will be much cleaner and the text sharper.

Re: NEW iPod Theme | two interfaces to pick from

hi all,

i am calling the theme "myPod" unless i can figure out a better name.

i have uploaded the ZIP, but i guess it takes a bit of time until it shows up.

the ZIP is about 1 MB and includes the following:

- all exported BMPs
- PNG (Fireworks) working files
- Myriad Pro font
- previews of both themes

btw, i have BOTH themes on my player at the same time. i sliced up the classic list into two bits and replaced all of the BMPs for the "dynamic" menu. additionally, i imported the carousel BMPs for the "static" menu. make sense?

enjoy,
doon

Looks very nice.
You've done a great job with this theme!

If you are able to also include the .psd photoshop files too, that would be great in case people need to change the order of the menus.

If you can, then you can edit your Theme post http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...le&file_id=239 and upload the updated file there.

Once again, great job!

hi binh,

i didn't see any way to edit my post on the download page (maybe i missed it). i uploaded the new ZIP to my server and linked to it from a comment field.

if this can be changed, i am happy to change it...just tell me how! :-)

cheers,

Hi doon

After you log in, in the Download page of your file, there should be a [edit] button at the top. Let me know if you see it or not. If you don't, then it might mean I can only edit it.

I have uploaded the NEW file for you already which has the Photoshop and Fireworks file in there.

Once again, big thanks for your contribution and sharing your theme with us all.

My player had 10 Items in the menu and with doon's tips I was able to alter his files to suit my players needs.

Instead of Extras I had Games and Phone Book. I changed Extras into Games and created a Phone Book image. Let me know if I made any mistakes. Enjoy.

Re: myPod | iPod-like Theme with two interfaces to pick from

FYI...

once i am done with a complete firmware update (themes and skins for all areas), i will upload my firmware here.

otherwise, i can make this available on request (but the rest of the screens on the player are a mess right now due to me messing around with different parts).

Re: myPod | iPod-like Theme with two interfaces to pick from

hi,

i have uploaded a listing of all of the images in the U130 section of the firmware.

you will find it in the "uploads by members" section of the downloads area: U130 Image listing for 3.5.37 firmware

this should help you see if your player's graphics match up with mine. if not, you can try to use my PSDs and cut images specifically for your player.

if anyone needs flat BMPs instead of PSDs, let me know!

cheers,
doon

This is a little bit off topic doon, I tried to sent it to you has a pm but it wouldn't go through.

I love all of your my pod themes, but when I try to use them, for instance your ipod look alike theme, my mpx player like puts it into two images, and I know that is because it needs a certain sidebar, have you ever thought about making one for your themes, for the peoples mpx players that don't display it right, It's like this for me Main_11,Main_12(for me is the side bar), Main_13 is fine with your theme, full screen, then starting at Main_14, it makes the image smaller so there is like two images. If you could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it. I am not good with editing at all. My firmware is ACT_V3.5.35, I have a 1.8" screen

Re: myPod | iPod-like Theme with two interfaces to pick from

huskers_75,

sorry for the late reply.

yeah, i know your problem. the issue is, there seem to be as many different ways these players handle their BMPs as there are players out there.

it sounds like your player is more like the one Nabilash created a skin for:

iPod look-alike theme

that's a great theme and you would be able to use it right away.

here are a few helpful links:
- my player's images
- instructions on how to modify my theme

i basically took this list and worked to replace the elements i wanted to change.

hope that helps!

Wow great job! I'm totally stoked with changing the themes. I wish I could use this one that you created for the menu, but because my player doesn't have Radio, Ebook, Telephone, etc... it won't work for me. My order goes Music, Record, Voice, Picture, Movie, Sys Setup. So how will I be able to make the menu match up with my options? Do I have to make one of my own from scratch? Sorry if its a noob question. I just got mine a couple days ago.

Thank you

I'm currently using the Carosel theme which I love and had no problems adding to my firmware, but I cannot figure out how to add the classic list, as my bmps for each icon are in 3's, not 2's. I'd really like to add the classic list to my player. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: myPod | iPod-like Theme with two interfaces to pick from

hi RoLL,

well...

this is a crap load of work, really. hundreds of graphics have to be created and replaced.

i unfortunately don't have a player with a 1.8" screen, so all of my work is for the 1.5" player. which one do you have?

which tools do you use? i use fireworks for all of my graphics. it is vector-based but creates BMP graphics (much better than photoshop, in my opinion).

do you have any examples of your graphic design work?
