myPod | Music player main screen
 

quick question for you all...

since a lot of the BMPs from the radio are shared with the music player screen, i decided that i had to tackle it as well. here are the first results:

i am not quite sure what to think of it yet and don't know if i should spend (waste?) any more time on it. what do you all think?

as there is no way to change the placement of certain items on the screen (yet), i can only replace or repurpose space for other things.

i haven't tried this out on my player yet, but will do so tomorrow.

any comments?

well... i am doing more than just a theme for the menu screens (the static and dynamic menu screens).

i am trying to skin everything (which is about 250+ images).

i don't have the radio files as a PSD yet (i use fireworks), but i could send you the BMPs. unfortunately, since the radio and the music player share some of the same images, replacing the radio will kind of screw up your music player. this is why i was holding off on posting. i want to get the radio and music screens done first!

well, what do you think of it so far?

this may not work 1-to-1 for you (depending on your player). from what i have heard, it seems that there are players with the same firware version which have the battery at the bottom!

at the moment, there isn't a way to make these kinds of changes to the layout. so, if your player has certain elements in a different place, you will need to update for your screen.

as soon as i am done and have tested this, i will post the PSDs.

looks awesome! I am working on making a custom skin for mine...what player do you have? I like your layout a lot better I think! Wish I could use it! hehe.

I just used the skin for the main menu from here to look like the real iPod menu, and like the idea of your FM player post too!

I may use it to edit my own, as you said the layouts seem to be slightly diff for some version!

Doing a fantastic job there.
The only thing that 'stumped' me was that I couldn't change the position of the images. I also couldn't reskin everything either :( Only certain parts of the music playing screen I could reskin as the others didn't appear in the s1res tool. I haven't been able to find a way around it unfort :( If someone does, let me know.

Would be great to reskin EVERYTHING on the screen during music playing etc.... At present, I can only reskin parts of it. The others (like the ugly red bitrate display) I can't get rid of unfort :(

OK...

so i have reskinned everything (including the KBPS display...which is not red on my player) and it is looking a lot better. BUT, i am having two major issues (which are somewhat related):

the dynamically displayed text (scrolling song title and folder name) seems to require a certain background color.

the folder name, on my player, has a blue background and light orange text. even if i change the background color of MAIN.BMP for this area, the folder name still shows up in a blue box.

the scrolling text (song name) is the main issue: my MAIN.BMP has a black strip for this area. the scrolling text is orange on what seems to be a transparent background. as soon as the text begins scrolling, the background gets all weird (turns green on my player).

i don't think there is a solution for this, unless we can change the text and/or background color.

i am trying a few things out still, but am not too hopeful.

i'll keep you all posted.

P.S. in order to change the KPBS text, i change the MNUM and MBITS image files (don't know if they are named the same on other players).
