{SOLVED} Issue with changing theme stuff...
Hello all. I'm a new mp4 nano clone owner and first time poster. I had a bit of an issue after changing my theme from the ugly flowers to a ipod menu.
I changed over everything fine: backup my bin file, edited the current bin file , but found out i mixed up a couple images after I turned my player back on. So i thought, no prob, ill just fix em and upgrade my firmware. After fixing it, i tried to upgrade my firmware only to get an error message in MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 after clicking Begin Upgrade that says 'Invalid upgrade firmware file!' I tried using my edited bin file as well as my backup and i get the same result. Any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated PS- This forum is fantastic BTW :) |
scape211, Did you run repair.bat in the s1fwx folder when you extracted your firmware?
Also uninstall 3.68nand install 4.0 and try to restore your unthemed dump.bin. |
Re: Issue with changing theme stuff...
i certainly did repair it. i followed the instructions listed on this website. I imagine it has something to do with the program. I kept having a problem where it would not recognize my mp4 player even though it was plugged in and windows showed it perfectly. After it finally did recognize it, i got the error i explained above.
So now my question is where is version 4.0 for the mp4 utilities? i didnt find it in the downloads sections before...(might be because im still a bit noobish with the navigation of this site though so forgive me) |
Re: Issue with changing theme stuff...
i think my problem is solved. After you said to make sure I repaired the backup tadad1, I re-repaired it to make sure it worked and it didnt not. I dont really understand why it worked the first time I repaired and not the second, but i extracted and repaired all over again and i was able to upgrade fine in MP4 Player Utilities 4.0. I unfortunately dont have my original firmwire with the standard menu, but I should be fine with this edited one.
Thanks for the help :) |

That does sound strange. Are you able to 'reload' our modified firmware file more than once? |
Re: Issue with changing theme stuff...
well, here is the thing. I read on another post that you cant repair a file twice and I didnt know that when i tried to repair a second time. So technically, the file could've been repaired already. However, since it didnt work, i just extracted what I had, which had the ipod boot/end sequence and ipod menu, then I repaired that and reuploaded and it worked.
In short, yes admin I can reload it more than once. :) |

Yes, you can't repaird it more than once, you just get an error. Good that you solved it in the end and that it's letting you flash your player more than once. I was suspicious that it might be a problem with the USB cable if you are having USB detection problems in Windows. But guess not. If your question is solved, can you put [solved] in the subject of your original post please? |
