[solved] Need help with theme/firmware upgrade
I backed up my firmware and have been trying to load some of the theme packs from this site. Can't load any of them (their firmware must not be compatible). I then reloaded my backed up firmware 3.3.35 and it is fine, except now it is all in Chinese. I can get to the system utilities, but can't understand the menu to get to the "change language" one.
However, when I checked the .bin with s1res tool, it seems to list languages other than English. Does that mean that I don't have English as a language option? What do I do now to get to an English language .bin. |
[SOLVED] I decided I liked tadad1 1.5 theme pack and uploaded that to my .bin and reloaded. This worked fine but the language was still in Chinese.
After a few hours of messing around, I came across a help file that talked about some other topic but basically said to match a file by counting the line items from the menu screen. Anyway, with the icons and titles available to me while modifying the .bin, I found that the language selection was listed as #3 under sys tools and that English was the second line item under that. Once I clicked on it...bingo. I like the new interface but wish the radio showed a larger digital station frequency so I could see it without my glasses on. I think I saw an icon like this somewhere on this site. |

To change the default language on your dump.bin firmware file after extracting it, you will need to use Firmware modifier which can be downloaded here. Download it, open it, select your firmware file then down the bottom there is a section called "Default Lanugage". Change this then press [OK]. It will then save it to the dump.bin firmware file. You only need to do this ONCE on that file and it should be like that all the time. From then onwards, any other updates with that same dump.bin file should always default your language to English. Hope that helps. |
