If you would like to modify the theme on your player, then have a read on these Knowledge Base articles (or by clicking on the "Knowledge Base" link on the left hand side menu).

First you need to determine whether you have an ACTIONS, Sunplus or Sigmatel chip board. The articles here are written for ACTIONS chip boards and are the more common type.

To reskin/theme your firmware follow these Knowledge Base articles:

1. "<span style="font-weight:bold">How to: extract firmware of your player using the S1fwx tool</span>" from <span style="font-weight:bold"><span style="color:brown">here</span></span>.

2. "<span style="font-weight:bold">How to: Modify your firmware using s1res tool</span>" from <span style="font-weight:bold"><span style="color:brown">here</span></span>.

3. Finally, "<span style="font-weight:bold">How to: Update the firmware for your MP3/MP4 player</span> from <span style="font-weight:bold"><span style="color:brown">here</span></span>.</div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="bottom" class="genmed"><span class="postdetails"></span></td>

mp4 user
s1fwx will only work on players that use the Action chipset. Your player maybe using a SimgmaTel or Rockchip processor.
If you go to the players settings menu and select "Firmware Version" what information is displayed?

mp4 user, Your player is using version 9.0.48, sadly the tools for extracting firmware do not work on 9.0.48 or 9.0.50 firmware. New tools are being developed but it is not known when they will be released.
For the time being you will just have to enjoy your player as it is.

Just a note even though the tool will not create a usable backup it should still detect your player.

@ normanbates

If you look back at the beginning of this thread you'll find the reason why it won't extract and repair your firmware

I'm betting your firmware version is either 9.0.48 or 9.0.50
