modifying firmware

i tried to open the dump.bin with s1res.exe

it shows this message

Until s1fwx is upgraded you will not be able to mod your firmware. At the moment it is not possible to make a usable backup copy of the 9.0.XX firmware so unless you have the players original Full Version firmware you will not be able to modify it.

so everyone else is having the same problem with this?

xeongx, the s1fwx tool is made by "wiRe" his site is www.s1mp3.de . He is aware of the problem but as yet no news on an update.

do you think full firmware version is availbe for me?
how about if i put another firmware in it??

xeongx, There is bound to be a full version of your firmware but finding it is the problem. I strongly suggest that you do not try to change your firmware. Your player is using a newer chipset which is why it has the 9.0.XX series firmware and not 3.5.XX series. If you kill your player which is more than likely you will not be able to recover it unless you find the full version for your player.

so full version is the one we can get from the tool that its not realed yet for 9.XX??
could the seller i bought it from have the firmware?

xeongx, The problem with the s1fwx tool at the moment is it misses a couple of files in the extraction process and because they are not there it can not repair the firmware.
An extracted or dumped firmware is not the same as a full version firmware. A full version firmware contains certain extra files that are used to read the players hardware and prepare the player for firmware installation. These extra files are not actually copied to the player during the firmware installation, this means that there is no way to extract a full version firmware because not all the files needed are present on the player.

Your possible options for a full version firmware are the mini CD that came with your player sometimes has a copy but this is rare. The supplier may have a copy or may be able to get a copy but sometimes the manufacturers are a bit reluctant to release their full versions in case other manufacturers start using it.
