pmilladcs, Your player is using one of the newer firmware versions, at present there are no tools for extracting, repairing of modifying this version firmware so sadly there is no way of theming it.

I would strongly recommend that you not try loading any other firmware to your player as the chances of killing your player are very high and recovery is unlikely at this stage.

Where did stres1 tool come from in the first place? Who invented it? How do we make one for the newer firmware on the newer players?

gta3dude , upgrading of firmwares are not recommended as it'll likely kill the player.

The S1fwx & S1res tool originated from wiRe at s1mp3.de

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Default Re: 9.0.48 firmware

having this "new" firmware totally sucks

I've got the newest possible combination:

9.0.50 firmware
on a ATJ2093 chip
with a 2inch lcd 220x176 pixels

and you know what?
the theme that came with it is completely stupid!!!

where is Wire with the new s1fw/s1res tools ???

Sersoft

im sure wire is working on something!
just be patient.

I might be wrong but I heard that there might be a new tool being developed for these newer firmwares.

I have the same device as SerSoft. I read in some post that they are already working on a version to get us out of this hell.......

Patience is a virtue!!

pmilladcs,
I think that as long as the Downloaded Firmware Version (9.0.48 ), Release Date, Chip Type (example: ATJ2085) and menu bitmaps (Screen Size) of the downloaded file are identical to your original Firmware, it should be compatible. (the player shape is also important but might be misleading I've found tons of firmware files for MP4 that looks just like mine but with dfferent CPU)

There is no extracted firmware for mine at the moment so I'll have to wait some more.

sersoft, this is a dumb question coming from someone with my mpx knowledge, but how do you figure out which chip type you have?
