Re: Possiblities of mpx playing different file format
gaboon,
Some players can already play .ogg files, not all. Only those that has been modified by the manufacturer to allow for .ogg file playback.
.ram relates to RealMedia files and you will find a lot of players don't play because of licence issues. This will go the same with .wmv files (good ol' Microsoft).
In terms of modifying the firmware to play them, that might not work. The problem is, there are lots and lots of MP4 manufacturers, using 4-5 different board manufacturers with about 4-5 different firmware versions. Combine this with the fact that some manufacturers paid extra to have the firmware 'modified' for their player and features. You can see that there is a high possiblity that even though on the outside, your player looks the same and even though the firmware version is the same, there is a good chance that it WON'T be compatible with your player.
I haven't seen anyone being able to add different file formats onto their player though. There might still be a chance. Someone has managed to get file browsing onto firmware that hasn't had it before, so I guess there is still a possiblity.
