You never update a working player with another version of firmware EVER. There are too many different players out there with many different versions of firmware. If you use another version it will most likely kill your player.

If it is working fine... leave it alone.

I hope that new fw can have better features such has volume adjust during video playback. But if I search a newer fw after 9.0.50 isn't suggested to update?

No.

Actions chipsets aren't like that. Theres really no such thing as 'better' or 'new features'. Updating a higher version will kill your player because it's a version that IS NOT MEANT to be for your player. I can tell you that you won't get any new features by attempting to change the firmware. Just a dead player. Each firmware is unique to it's player. It was made for one specific player only.

Simply, Actions chipsets firmware is not to be 'updated'.

Just do a search on how many people have killed thier players by trying to 'update' thier firmware. There are thousands.. maybe tens of thousands of them.

Just don't do it... it's not worth the pain.

Re: 9.0.50 firmware can be extracted

I have used it to extract a dump file from a player with 9.0.50 firmware. It appeared to execute without any problems, a large file was created, and my player is still working. Therefore, the answer is that it should be safe to do so.

However, I had hoped to use the dump file to restore what I thought was an identical dead player. When I tried this, the S1 clone warned that the players were not identical and if I tried to proceed this caused a blue screen crash of my PC. I am unable to check whether the dump file would successfully restore the player it was extracted from, because I do not want to risk damaging a working player!
