EXIM MP4 Firmware editing
 

Hi guyz! Im from Argentina and i buy a chinese MP4 in a place called "C.hi-Digital" (so you can imagine who are the sellers xD)
I know that the 9.1.xx.xx extractor isn't ready so wanna make my own firmware, but i dont know what files i need...

Can you say me:
1-The 1.8 screen pixels (px X px ??)
2-What files make a firmware?
3-Where to get games for it (PacMan, 9.0.48 Tetris, etc.)?
4-Can you give me an explample extracted firmware (to see the files)

Firmware for these types of players can be incredibly difficult to program. The developers of programs like s1fwx, s1res, s1clone and quite a few clever members on this forum are still trying to figure out how they themselves can create a generic firmware file to suit most players. It's not an easy task as there are so many different players with so many different configurations. You couldn't just grab files, slap them together and expect them to operate a player.

I confess I tried the technique you're suggesting. I wasted a lot of time trying to merge different firmware components and files only to end up with nothing that even resembled working firmware.

You can't add new games to this type of firmware though.. what you see is what you get.

Your best hope is to contact your seller or manufacturer and ask them for a working firmware file for that specific model. If it's complete, you'll be able to load it into s1res and theme it.
Thats what i did.

i wanna reskinning, not program a new firmware ;)

leandruz , what firmware version is your player currently using? If it higher than v9.0.43, then there is no tool available currently to extract a working firmware dump. Without your own firmware dump, it is very risky to flash some else's themed firmware into your player as it is very likely to brick it instead.

my fw is 9.1.51, thanks for the advice !! :) i have read that someone coud do a download using s1clone, is that correct ?

leandruz , v9.1.51 could not be extracted for theming purposes. S1clone is not fully tested and does not work for everyone. Besides, it creates a whole raw image file rather than the firmware dump that S1res needs. It would only be useful for people recovering dead players at the moment.

I fucked up my player by that D:! Well, yeah, it really isn't themeable atm, so don't try it.. Anyway rolito223, are you retarded? It's already said that there are no tools for that thing, no extractor, no fw uploador..
