Default Jump Drive Mod?

I want to mod my chipod from 128MB to anything higher on the cheap. Then it hit me. Why not use jump drive flash? They go on sale pretty often, so if I can get two 512's for under $15, I think I could piggy back them to upgrade my s1 player.

Here are the problems: Will the chipset be compatable? A circuit diagram for every drive out there would be hard to find......

And, is there anyway of telling what kind of memory is inside without buying/hacking up a jump drive?

Comments on this project would be appreciated.

smoke , generally most USB drives available in the market uses NAND Flash chips. There is a very useful guide at S1mp3 here http://wiki.s1mp3.org/How_to_add/change_a_memory_chip

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
