There is a small hole to the right of the device... on the side of it... close to bottom... insert a clip there and it will be reset

maybe you load a wrong version of firmware... for instance VX858 on VX858LE or viceversa.

Start the player keeping pressed MENU button while you plug USB cable this will put your player in "upgrade mode" or rockusb.
Then install proper version of firmware.

Kindly let us know if it was due to wrong firmware.

It doesn't work still but i do think that it is the wrong software i have installed. My onda is vx858 LE v2. But the software i installed on it was the 00000017 + vista skin...that the cause of my trouble. My computer can detect it when do what you just told me but Refresh firware keep saying no ROCK USB FOUND

Still it can't shutdown by itself, only reset so still locked. I have really to find a way to get to the ugrade mode...HOW??????

well... seems that you will need to use the hardware method... which is really annoying... as you will need to open the player in order to short circuit flash memory... somewhere here is a explanation how to do this Dead Rockchip player

But before to do this... try keeping the clip pressing in the little hole for more than 10 seconds... maybe 20 seconds... I read something like that in Onda/BBS

If your PC recognize it as rockusb then you're close to solve it...
You are using Windows Vista really?... I don't know about Vista indeed.

Anyway use the latest firmware update from here Firmware Update ex-Customr Update. It's version 3.1.2.0
And try again to install your firmware for VX858LE with this latest version

Hi, i'm not using windows vista it's Xp i'm using...
But i did what uyou told me with the 3.1.2.0. I got the message NO ROCK USB FOUND. Im wondeing if the player is really in upgrade mode (a forced one) when it shows the vista skin...if so why the firmware is not accepting it. Is it the only firmware for such upgrade?

If in your XP it appears as a rockusb then it's in upgrade mode. This means that is not showing as removable disk and in the icon on system tray is showing rockusb label.

When you said that shows a Vista skin means that is showing that black screen with the green slider and never get to show main menu.

Confirm this please maybe you will need to use Nand-tool to clean your flash memory... this is here nand tool

Concerning firmware you have to use VX858LE V2 Option 1 or Option 2
