No longer will we have to rely on RKLogoEdit , we can have our own, hurrah!

This will give you an idea of how it will look and work, ideas for the project will be helpful, as would any developers time.

I congratulate you for your work dance...

Are your thinking on skin "music" panel?
This is really tricky at it requires to patch about 8 to 10 pictures

Anyway ... good work!!

I dont see why not, can we not make this application work for both chips firmware,
let me download some actions firmware and see what i can do, any information you can put forward will be of help,
I would like to know how you alter the images at the moment, this will help me recreate the firmware.

Using this application you should be able to skin the whole firmware, are you saying you want to know which items belong to what screens?

if so, it is just a matter of organising the lst file, the current lst file is still in it's early stages, and will need better titles and descriptions.

My early skins (aqua and metal) can be found on this site, and include all the images you need to skin the music player.

For all you folks with Actions Chip MP4 players, here is a screen shot of the new editor with the Actions Firmware open,

main screen : http://www.dancemammal.com/images/actionmain.jpg

we should be able to create lst files for the actions chip as we do with the RockChip.

Good news dancemammal, like the nice user friendly interface, looks much better than RKLogo.

Looks like we'll be able to use our old RKLogo .lst files too.

Re: New RockChip Firmware Editor

Hi All,

gemelo71, I did download your firmware, the reason it cannot be viewed, is it is encrypted, it can be decrypted, I will just have to do a little hacking, and then we should be able to access the firmware.

I will place this in a future release, or look at the s1.org site, there is some software that will decrypt the firmware, aftwer which you will be able to open the firmware in the editor.

It doesn't work on my 9.1.50. It loads the firmware, but doesn't show any valid pictures, only garbage.

My firmware is dumped using s1clone, maybe it's s1clone's fault, as i still have a lot of doubts about that program (when i chose to verify the dumped firmware with the player it showed a lot of differences).

Great job Dancemammal,

Looking forward to use this software going to play around with it and give it a try. I have my Onda xv 858LE on the way in the mail, maybe i'll have enough guts to do a mod theme on it lol.

Anyways Congrats

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

make sure you set the correct pixel sizes otherwise it will indeed show garbage.

btw does it show the images as one big strip? can't seem to get the 'display size' view in the preview window?? (ACTION fw)

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

That tool looks pretty great - thanks for posting it... is there a bit more comprehensive instructions coming, though? And I notice the firmwares included are for the LE version of the vx858 - I have the 858, not the le. Will any of these firmwares work? DO you have any examples/templates for the 858?

thanks

Dancemammal 17th Dec 2007 1:13 am

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

Hi,

There is a users guide comes with the application, this changes every version.

Included now, are a lot of the lst files for other players inc the VX858, this will help you extract the images from your firmware, you can then replace the images how you want (so long as the buttons etc are in the same place).

It is recomended that you use the firmware provided with your player, or provided for your player, or you could risk bricking it.

Other Lst files can be found on this site in the downloads section.

Cheers

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

Hi to All!

I am new to this forum, and recently bought a 8gb mp3 mp4. The firmware is 00.00.0002, and the year is 2008, I forgot the exact date. I want to theme my mp4. I tried to download the tool by following the link, and the webpage gives me error, "Cannot Open File!"

Also, if I theme my mp4, the process is automatic or not? What do I need to do to get my mp3 themed?

Thanks in advance!

knob 12th Jul 2008 8:14 am

The dancemammal editor is here now:-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...021-df841.html

For theming you will need.

1 The correct firmware for you player.
2 The firmware editor.
3 a .lst file.
4 a set of .bmps to replace the existing ones

The process is not automatic and it's time consuming, the firmware editor doesn't back up your firmware, so you need to get your firmware from somewhere else.

The most hardest and most important thing is finding the right backup firmware for your player, other wise there is a very high risk of bricking your player!

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

Will this work with RK2608A ?

knob 17th Aug 2008 12:27 pm

Yes, probably, if you have got:-

The correct firmware for you player.
2 The firmware editor.
3 a .lst file.
4 a set of .bmps to replace the existing ones

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

How come you say maybe to me and no to him?
http://www.mympxplayer.org/viewtopic.php?t=10864

And Can I find the lst file or I must make it?

knob 17th Aug 2008 2:27 pm

Maybe, yes if you already have the firmware, but no , If you haven't, because there are no tools to extract your firmware from your own player.

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

Ok so I buy one and pray that the firmware come with it? :P

knob 17th Aug 2008 10:38 pm

Yes, or even better buy a RK2706 and you get the firmware anyway and a better player for the same price! 8)

Re: New RockChip / Actions Firmware Editor

Yea I tuagh about that, this is the one with a 3.0" right? With the them set to be seen horizontally. If it's this one I tuagh about Re-theming it but put the theme vertically, technicly and praticly this could be done. And if anyone need help with GFX or anything I can do GFX.
