Theme: Frosted for [JXD 301] player

Well, here's my new theme for the JXD 301 called Frosted.

I went in a bit further with this one and made various versions of it so that you can pick and choose what you want. This theme comes loaded with 2 artworks called road and wipeout. You can download other artworks and set up your player to look differently. I've prepared 7 different artworks to choose.

The screenshots displayed above are for the MAIN update of the Theme that contains all the files to change the fonts, menus, music player, recorder, etc. You can however change the looks of your main menu and file browser by using any of these Frosted Themes:

You need to install first the MAIN update, which you can download from here:

WOW! That is one very nice looking theme Xaveri!

Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Reading from your readme.txt file, the update process seems VERY EASY and doesn't involve the use of an update tool or software to do the update. Is that correct? I don't have one of these players, might have to get a hold of one now after reading the review (here) and seeing how easy it is to theme the player!

Just so I don't get confused, you mentioned that we have to first install the "main update" then "then download all the themes"?
What is the difference between the two zip files? I downloaded the main update (JXD301_Frosted_Mod_1.0.zip) and browsing through it seems to have your theme on it already. Browsing through the other .zip files, there seems to be more themes on it as well. Pardon my ignorance as I don't have a JXD player so not sure on how it all works.

INSTRUCTIONS

This mod is made up of 2 parts. One is the entire update for
all the areas of the player. The other one are theme files
which change only the main menu and browsing areas of the
player. First you need to extract into the player the main
update, then change the themes as you like. The main files
have already 2 themes loaded ( road and wipeout ).


How to make the MAIN update?

1. I recommend that you update your firmware to the latest
version. If you have the latest, make sure that you dont
have any other themes installed. Reinstalling the latest
firmware before extracting this mod would be the best
option.

2. Access the firmware part of your player. ( With your
player off, press right + On Button. Once you see the
orange screen, connect the usb cable )

3. Unzip the folder [ mguires ] into the main directory
of your JXD 301. All the directories will be placed
on the right place.

4. Turn on your player and in the Themes directory you can
change the theme between Blue/Lovely or Gold/Pretty.


How to make the THEMES update?

1. Make sure you have the MAIN update for the Frost Mod
installed in your player.

2. Access the firmware part of your player. ( With your
player off, press right + On Button. Once you see the
orange screen, connect the usb cable )

3. Select the zip file for the theme you want to use and
extract it to your computer.

4. Extract the contents of this zip file into your player
either into the Blue or Gold folders located in the
[ mguires ] folder.

5. Turn on your player and in the Themes directory you can
change the theme between Blue/Lovely or Gold/Pretty.

NOTES

This has been tested under firmware 9.6.10

One more thing, could you also upload the files to this site as well? I know with a lot of the 'free hosting' sites, they tend to delete files if it hasn't been downloaded for some days or have some other reason to delete the files. It would be ashame to see your themes not available should that happen. If you upload it to our site, we'll keep it forever (well, as long as this site is alive that is).

You can upload it by going to the [Downloads] --> then [Uploads by Members] section. I'll move it to the "Themes" category after that and approve it.

Thanks a lot for your kind remarks.

It is really easy to create themes for the JXD 301 because the artwork is made up of a series of bmp files and they are wide open for access as part of the firmware. The way the JXD 301 works is that it has 3 folders which are [common], [blue] and [gold]. [common] is where all the system files for the player are stored. They contain the bmp files for the fonts and the player's icons for music, video, games, etc.

[blue] and [gold] contain all the files for the themes. In the JXD 301 can can only have a maximum of 2 themes available in your player. The 'main update' is what changes the arwork for the fonts, icons, music, recorder, equalizer and the rest. This update also includes 2 themes, road and wipeout.

Now the theme files only contain the artwork necesary to change the main window and the browsing window for each specific theme. So you can pick and choose which theme you want in your player and unzip it into either the [blue] or [gold] folders.
