Extract firmware for SPMP3050/SPMP3052 devices

* With the device switched off, press a button (try different buttons and combinations, they differ from player to player).
* Without releasing that button, plug the USB. Then the device gets detected as a Webcam. Then you have to install the drivers that probably came on your CD (also available here)
* Use FRM Pro to extract or manage the firmware, which is located (hidden) on the flash.


To extract:

* Go on Advanced mode
* Right-click RSV and choose Set Working Folder, and then select an existing folder to dump the files to.
* Right-click A, Get A image, B, Get B image, and Firmware, Get.


Don't worry about bricking the player, the firmware upload method doesn't depend on the firmware itself so if you have backed up your firmware you can always restore it, so there's nothing to worry about.

FRM Pro can be used also to replace individual files on the firmware without burning the whole AIMG/BIMG, and to reinstall the firmware.


You can mount the AIMG file (the BIMG too, but it only has a TEMP file) using this: http://chitchat.at.infoseek.co.jp/vmware/vdk.html

It can be used from the command line. So, open it, go to the folder, and do:
vdk start
vdk open 0 C:\[whatever]\AIMG /RW
vdk link 0 0 Z

Replace the AIMG folder with yours, and the Z on the last command with any free drive letter you have. The image will be mounted and you can modify it directly.

To unmount:
vdk stop

All the images are stored on .jpgs so you can skin very easily, and also edit the position of controls on skin .bin files using a text editor.

My device is based on 3052 but i press any combination at button but nothing...WEBCAM not appear...some help? Thanks!

i think you have a hidden button next to line in just press it and plug

Hi friend! In my device not there is external button next to line-in, inside there is a button at line-in finish, but i try press inserting a line-in cable and nothing...not change to webcam...you have some additional idea? How press that button? I testing with little screw but the button not appear to be press, i must open device press this button for upgrading or use as webcam?

I use something similar. Turn it off. Press the ESC button on the player and connect the usb... Release the ESC button.

Can you give any picture help to locate where is the hidden button becasue i saw on my player every where and i dont find any hidden button to make my player to go in WEB-CAM MODE.

hi i have a konaki ctshttp://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=h...1t:429,r:0,s:0 and i dont know if its a 3050 or a 3052 but, for me, the hidden button is the camera.i have a problem updating the software to smpm3050a and when i click on detect block size (in frm pro) it says:

(Dev NO.0): Check ISP core --FAIL--
(Dev NO.0) --FAIL --
FRM_CHECK_ISP_STATUS_ERROR(35) -- !

please help me i cant solve this problem

bt i have a 3060a player and i know the button, but when i connect it the computer tries to install drivers and fails, it came with no cd so i dont have webcam drivers!

how do i get the firmware from it?
