Noticed another member has posted another version here: http://mympxplayer.org/tool-mp4-chip...-pm-df995.html - is that the same program?

Latest version

Hi All,

Perhaps someone should start a sourceforge project for the source code, that way the application can be better tracked,
that does not mean others cannot produce their own versions, it just means we know where the latest version will be.

Regards

Wil someone create a Firmware extractor for the older versions of Rockchip based player such as RK2608A ??
Because the firmware extractor is said to work only with the newer chips?

How are you guys coding a firmware editor if no fw extraction tool seems to exist/work? I'm looking to modify my 2608a fw 00.00.0002 but an editor won't help if I can't extract/upload firmware, right?

this is the problem with older rockchips - unless you have a firmware then you can mod, if you do not then you cant

branded players will have firmware updates meaning the firmware is available to mod and be safe to load on, unbranded players ... its a game of russian roulette

newer rockchips are different and we can actually extract from the palyer and mod, so it is better to get a new rockchip player if you want to mod

thanks that's what i was starting to gather from all the comments about these unbranded 2608a rockchips... just a bad combo for modding apparently. ah well. i mostly wanted to change the font colour on the menu's. black on a dark blue background is *impossible* to see in any kind of daylight. grrrr

makd511 11th May 2009 2:08 pm

oo, well im afraid we cant change the font colors anyway - sorry
