How to change theme or firmware at my new chipod 3rd gen?

Hello everyone!
I'm italian, so excuse me if my english isn't perfect!
That's my question: I bought a chipod nano 3rd gen, with a 1.8" orizzontal screen. But I don't like the theme...how can I change it, or also the firmware, of my mp4 player? I don't know to do it...
