hi

unfortunately unless you have the original firmware for your player then modding is impossible, you need to be 100000% sure you hve te right firmware, do not rely on the look of your player, therr are so many different manufacturers of this type of player all with different firmwares

see this link for a mild warning
http://www.mympxplayer.org/viewtopic...er=&highlight=

basically it a very difficult to impossible task to find the right firmware for these types of players, and risky, at the moment you may just be better to enjoy the player until it breas down then make sure your next player is one that can be modded easily

cheers and sorry if this is a bit of a dowwner, but i just hate the thought of people bricking these players

firmware on these older players can not be extracted, if it could then maybe we would not have so many dead onda clone players

the only possible way to find a firm for your players is to take it apart and gather as many board ID numbers as possible, the try and search placers like http://www.s1fw.com/ to see if anyone has possibly found a firmware

this is a big risk, even if the numbers seem to match it is no guarantees, also taking apart the player can be fiddly, just watch for the battery wires and the speaker wires as they are easily pulled lose from their solder

number in the player info screen mean nothing, firmware number mean nothing and the look of the player means nothing, taking apart and noting the numbers is the only possible way, and then there is no definite

if you like to mess about then give it a go, i have player many a time and also killed several players!!!

if you never find the rght firmware, then yes, you will kll the player completely, it is a total unknown im afraid

lke i said, you can take the risk and hope something works, but that is what it is, this is why we warn all users who buy the playe you have as so many have now got dead player, 95% chance to break the player, the choice is yours

I found this forum and for couple of days (reading saving information, downloading firmware software and other tools) managed to update and MOD my firmware.....
and forget saying naaah....to hard...
better try
even of you brick your player you can fix it
while trying I bricked my player once and updated firmware twice
and now no bugs and poor start up and shut down screen

sorry mate but NO

i will not stop saying it at all
there have been so many cases of broken mp4 players where it is unnecessary and not everyone is either tech minded or inded, in need of an update, nor have many been as lucky as you

if people like yourself feel confident in doing updates at a risk then my advise will be ignored and that is fine, i only know what i know because i too experimented (and lost players) in the process

but 9 of 10 times many people do not need to update or are only wanting to update to theme, or add new features and this can and does cause problems .. for the general everyday user, is it worth it, and especially if its a new device, send it back, dont take the risk

i will always say NO to updating unbranded players to people, but if they decide to experiment then fair enough, but i have seen far too many players DIE from updating and never be recovered
