Modding theme for VX858 clone + Open firmware anyone ?
Hi,
As I understand there is yet to be a working firmware extractor for RockChip based players (hence also original Ondas I suppose). However I have downloaded tons of modding software for RockChip firmwares (mostly for themes). Can please someone confirm if I got this right ? "You can only use all the RockChip modding software with a firmware which you already have in the correct format and eventually (suppose there is a packaging software) pack it and flash your player if you are sure it's gonna work. Hence if you have a RockChip based player for which you DON'T already have firmware which you are sure it's suitable, you cannot do any modding or flashing (yet) without probably bricking it". POLL BACKGROUND: As there are tons of *cheap* MP4 players around it would be SO cool to develop an Open Firmware (possibly to be ported to different chipsets) developed by the community and including: - more and more features - better performance - better UI - MORE codecs supported Again, because they're cheap it's easier and cheaper to get hold of 'em and develop. Think about the tons of model around and what it could mean ... We all know that these mpx players are quite good, but their worst part is the interface and software - the Chinese only develop limited (bad) softwares and apparently have no interest in developing them more or providing updates. Thanks. Regards, nikione |

It's a nice idea, and it's been tried before, but we need the tools to do it first, have a look here:-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...676.html#52676 and here:- http://www.mympxplayer.org/anyone-wh...s-vt10186.html The tools do exist, but getting hold of them isn't easy, they are licensed to authorised firmware developers that are trained by Rockchip Electronics Corp.. Yes, you got everything 99% right above, but sorry to say it's not going to happen without the Rockchip SDK.. |
