Since I managed to upgrade my theme of my rockchip RK 2608A player
now I wan't to upgrade my memory.
the flash memory of the player is 4 GB
And i have a mini SD card 2 GB
the manual says that the max size of the mini SD card should be 4 GB
I wanna know will my player read common micro SD card using a adaptor to ocnvert it to a Mini SD; and will it read Micro or Mini SDHC card; and will it read card bigger than 4 GB

and can I add a intenral memory chip or memory card inside the player
-for example I will have flash memory (original) 4 GB, internal Mini SD
card 4 GB, ant the slot with the removable (original) Mini SD card
and I will have 1 card more?
If anyone knows a forum for such hacks and mods or has some information PLS tell me
i also wanna ask you can I add a button to change my songs without having to touch the touchscreen (may be to solder a micro button on 2 of the pins of the rockchip player, or to add a second socket for another headphone for my friend so we can listen together;
and last: there was a smal element LM XXXX 9I cant remember the number) that is a small amplyfier using input voltage 5 volts (i supose my rockchip battery is 5 volts -but let me know if I am right) and can make the output sound louder without many noises; it also draws a little current
and finaly say something about the charger and the battery and the battery upgrade- to add a better batery (more mAh = music for longer time)

And finally something about adding a bluetooth or Wi fi (which SOUND crazy) but with some hardware and firmawe upgrade MAY be possible for example to recieve a song from another bluetooth device
and save it into the root memory or a special folder!

Bigger memory chip inside the player: Possible within firmware limitations (most likely 4GB max on those older Rockchips), but you will have to find a way to get the firmware on the new chip.

Bigger card: Nope, 4GB is the max.

Adding another card slot: Definitely no.

Bluetooth: Buy a mobile phone. Wi-Fi: Buy a PDA. Preferably a real one not a cheap clone.

Audio amplifier: Of course it's possible, but you won't get it to fit inside the player.

Larger capacity battery: Possible as long as it fits.

Ah, the K310i. Don't remind me of it. Sony Ericsson phones usually have problems with the joystick - on the K310i the joystick works wonders but the keyboard buttons fail. I had to repair my right softkey and the 7 key, and i'm not an avid texter. I did play a heck of a lotta Cannon Fodder and Doom RPG tho... :P

Currently rocking a Nokia 6600 (old, chunky, but very good set of features) and a Sagem my400v (hey, it was free from a friend so), AWESOME speaker on this Sagem phone, too bad there's no card slot to do it justice.

I'm waiting for the Meizu M8 to come out. That, or i'll be getting myself a HTC Diamond for Christmas.

Btw, what amplifier chip do you want to use? Is it SMD? If so i'm curious how much money did you spend on SMD soldering equipment, i want to get myself a good soldering station since not everything can be done with a 100W soldering gun. I was able to make vmods and solder capacitors on mobos with custom tips i made, but for replacing SMD parts one definitely needs a heat gun.

you need to have a look at the battery in your player now.



I swopped the battery in my rockchip player with an ipod mini battery and got more than double the playing time.

the voltage is 3.7v and the mAh capacity needs to be as high as you can but you need to see how much space you have got for a bigger battery.

have a look at the mAh rating on the battery if it is 300mAh then you could get double playing time if you use a ipod mini battery at 600mAh, you can get these cheap on ebay.

there is nothing writen on the battery
but I'll think about changing it
it has space for another batery but the space will be in L type
If I find some Li-ion cells and solder them in L type pack,
or make 1 bigger batt pack with more cells in parallel connection I'll get more capacity
The i-pod touch battery (which I've seen on pic) has 3 wires
that's for balancing the cells when charging
because the cells have their internal resistance and only the first cells will charge to the propper voltage
you can finf more info about li-ion, NiMh NiCd and Li-Po cells on the net

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT BATT IS NOT THE HIGHER CAPACITY, BUT THE CHARGER YOU USE, THE RIGHT CHARGING CURRENT, THE BALLANCING OF EVERY CELL and etc.

the capacity will make your player work longer
but the charger will increase your battery LIFE
for example my rockchip player's charger has siemens chip in its charger

AND SOMETHING MORE
there is samsung K9HBG0... memory chip inside the player i think it is SD type memory
also there is a free space for the same chip on the PCB
with the same pin type
may be if I find such memory and solder it I'll gain some memory
but the pins are very small and solder job almost impossible
I'll search info about such chips
there is also free space for camera or something else on the player but it will be impossible to mount a cam because it will need special firmware and oter chips to controll it

hi again I read about your battery swap
the grey wire on the Ipod player is may be for the second grups of cells
-parallel conected for higher capacity
you better open the battery pack and see how the cells are connected and
solder the grey and white wires together
if you used the batery without the grey wire you may get twice less capacity
and without charging the second group parallel connected cells they may have already damaged
so you better disconnect the pack from your player and gently open the batt pack and whink about better connection

1) SD cards bigger than 2 GB are SDHC. The player won't recognize them. There are some pseudo 4 GB ones, but they are non-standard and exhibit flaky behaviour in many devices.

2) The battery 3.7 volt is one cell, so it doesn't matter what sort it is as long as it fits. However, the internal charger is meant for the size battery that came with it. Putting a bigger one might cause charging issues. If a battery has a third wire it is connected to a thermistor which is meant to turn off charging if the battery gets warm. In this case, you can ignore it. If the battery is 2 or 3 cells you will blow up your player if you try to use it.
