Default S1res unable to read new firmware version 9.5.54

Is there another tool for extracting firmware version 9.5.54 with an AK2025 controller?

i have a few players but the ones with 9.5.54, S1RES cannot read from and displays SEMAPHORE TIME OUT. i have tried different computers and different USB leads but with no luck.
i can extract from 9.1.54 easily every time but NOT from 9.5.54.
Does any one no anything?
Thanks

it seems this problem isn't caused by the player, but by the computer itself. some usb ports (maybe v1.1 ports), don't work properly with the libusb/swan driver. using another computer to clone the player may fix this problem.
Try an older computer with USB 1.1 ports.

At a small risk (since noone seems to have tried this before), if you're willing to help out with research I can give you a version of s1giveio that works with v9 hardware and we can try to figure out if basic things like ADFU mode still work the same.

Thanks it seems your the only one who tries to answer here.
Have sent you a pm with some info.

I have tried numerous combinations of computers and USB 1 and 2 with no luck. More than willing to try the program.

thanks

This program will attempt to set the player into ADFU mode and upload a short stub that'll enable you to directly manipulate the hardware. I disclaim all responsibility if this somehow bricks your device.

http://rapidshare.com/files/209057470/s1giveio14.zip

Run it from a command prompt and if it succeeds in entering ADFU mode, run the following commands:
Code:
o 1 0
o 2 0
t 8000 8000
q
This will dump your BROM into a file named dump8000.txt. Post that file here as an attachment.

Also, reading the s1mp3.org wiki (wiki.s1mp3.org) is a good idea if you want to know about the hardware. These new AK202x are slightly different though, and the differences are what we aim to discover through the process above. Getting the BROM will enable us to figure out how the flash controller in these new "Series 11" chips works.

Hello, I have the same thing as he does so I tried the rapidshare file and got the timeout still. One thing I have noticed is when I run any of the programs to access the player, the screen on it goes black, were as with the utility I get the connecting screen. It is almost like it is shutting hte player down because I cannot even access it through my computer anymore (shows it is there but cannot open it).

Read this thread, there's a new version of s1giveio that someone has reported success with. It should also work with yours, we'd like a BROM dump if it does:

It's possible, but you're limited to what you can do to around 4KB of Z80 code. Something simple like changing the icon to... an apple should be rather easy:
