I got a question for you.
I got the same player and I can help you, but can you help me too?
I have transferd the AIMG BIMG and defaultFW to my pc with FRM PRO , now i have to use VDK to mount the files but when i start VDK ( command line thing) it dissapears immidiatly , very anoing , do you know why? and How have you done it? once you helped me i am able to help you because im as far as you then..
I have some experience modding mp4 players , i have modded my rockchip player before

thanks for the help mate

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 11:12 am

lol i already quit on making a skin, but i can help you.

well you gotta do the following, in order to open AIMG or BIMG:
-make sure AIMG and BIMG are in a folder with a short path. for example C:\001
-with cmd, go to the folder where you copied VDK
-type these:
vdk start
*enter*----->this means press enter :D
vdk open 0 C:\001\AIMG (or C:\001\BIMG) /RW
*enter*
vdk link 0 0 Z
*enter*

now you should have a new local disk in my computer.

BTW every now and then windows will pop up a "low disk space" balloon. just ignore it.

when you're done:

-make sure you have closed all windows related to that new local disk
-again, point cmd to the VDK folder
-type:
vdk stop
*enter*

you should get a message "the virtual disk image service was stopped successfully" or something like that.

:)

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 11:23 am

thanks mate!!

maybe a stupid question but im not really used to working with the command line but how do you got to a directory with the command line? never used it before , can you maybe help me with that?
THANKS!

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 11:28 am

well first of all you gotta have an idea on the path.
example: cmd almost always starts at the desktop (C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Desktop, if you have Windows XP). so if you have the VDK folder on the desktop (i do), you type:
cd vdk
*enter*

easy! let's say you want to get from the desktop to a folder called "Stuff" placed right on drive C (on its root). First, you gotta get to the C drive's root:
cd ..
*enter*
cd ..
*enter*
cd ..
*enter*
(now the prompt should be C:\>)
cd Stuff
(now the prompt should be C:\Stuff> or something like that)

:)

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 11:58 am

thanks ! I understand it now.
but i got a problem , i made a printscreen , I'm dutch so sorry some text you cant read but you maybe still recognise the problem.http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5707/wtfiqw.png

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 12:00 pm

it says that the system cant find the file.. but at my desktop i got a folder called vdk with vdk.exe and vdk.sys why wont it work?

thanks mate ! you are really helping me!

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 12:04 pm

yeah i used google translate :D
erm, try downloading VDK again...cos besides those 2 files i also got 3 text files so maybe the program looks for them at startup.

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 12:21 pm

hi metalboy94
i reinstalled vdk and restarted my pc still not working , you got any idea?

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 12:23 pm

no..sorry :(
i really dont know what's happening. i mean, it works for me. and i didnt do anything special to it.

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 12:26 pm

ok,
im gonna try a bit , maybe other version of vdk etc. maybe try on other pc , well thnx for all the help you really helped me further i was kinda stuck,
i tell ya when i get further !
maybe a question in advance: can you maybe also tell me how to get the firmware when all ther pictures are modded back on the player? do i have to use frm pro also to do that?

thnx!

sorry for bad englisch

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 12:29 pm

BTW do you have a 64-bit OS? cos apparently it doesnt work on 64-bit.
and yes, you have to use it. best way is to copy the original DefaultFw.bin and BIMG to a separate folder, and then move your modded AIMG there. in FRM pro set the working folder to that folder with your modded AIMG and use it normally.

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 12:31 pm

nope im using 32 bit xp
well i keep on trying

thnx!

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 12:32 pm

no prob. hope you can solve the problem.

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 12:38 pm

hi metalboy94,

is there maybe another way to mount those images? another program? do you know that?

thnx!

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 12:39 pm

you might try WinImage, not sure if it works.

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 12:43 pm

wtf it worked XD

and I found the stupid light your life thing !

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 12:45 pm

worked with whut?

BTW i dont recommend to party yet...cos i also replaced teh stupid light your life and it still appeared when i turned it on...i think mine was included in the DefaultFw :x

emmerick 19th Aug 2009 12:47 pm

printscreen ...

this is all the stuff in AIMG

is BIMG and defaultFW also moddable?
so this is a bit different than the other methode ... i just have to make a new picture and drag and drop it into winimage i think and when i done i have to use frm pro to put everything back..http://i28.tinypic.com/14t9aab.jpg

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 12:59 pm

well theres nothing of interest in BIMG, and in order to modify DefaultFw.bin you gotta know how was the data encrypted inside...which you cant. and if you start editing it with a hex editor, for example, the PMP just wont start.

waldopulanco 19th Aug 2009 4:39 pm

The best way to open AIMG or BIMG is Magic ISO, n0 c0mmand unlike vdk32. It w0uld extract as many as firmware with0ut restart y0ur PC. Unlike VDK after y0u extract a AIMG y0u need to reb0ot y0ur PC to extract again the 0ther AIMG.

metalboy94 19th Aug 2009 10:59 pm

no, u dont have to reboot teh PC. trust me. ;)

emmerick 20th Aug 2009 10:47 am

hi ,

i got a question about putting the firmware back on the player,
metalboy you told me that i have to use frm pro to do that , but how exactly ? because i dont think i have to do the same as when i want to extract the firmware from the player.. what do i have to do? i already have set the working folder..

thnx !

emmerick 20th Aug 2009 11:13 am

do i have to press the isp button after i have set the working folder to put the firmware back on the player? because once i do that all the maps AUDIO GAME EBOOK etc are gone and i have to format the player so everything is back again , i supose this is not the way to get the firmware back on the player , anybody can tell me ? thnx!

emmerick 20th Aug 2009 11:19 am

and ofcourse when i have finished my modded firmware i will upload it for other people :)
metalboy i have read your blog , you said that people never should buy a sunplus player because the firmware lags etc. thats true but there are some pluses also , for example the firmware is moddable, i got a flash based mp4 player also and that isnt moddable(yet) and i really hate that :(
another plus is that mostly the players are really cheap . But yeah the firmware is one big mess :P.
I started to make some images for example this is the USB conected image im gonna use :

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6594/usbmsdc.jpg

made by myself :)
But still I have no luck getting the firmware back on the player so i wait for a response ,
thnx!

metalboy94 20th Aug 2009 1:26 pm

lol sorry :D

well i think you gonna lose what's in the internal memory anyway (songs, videos etc) so do the following:

make a new folder
paste in it the original DefaultFw.bin and BIMG and your modded AIMG
set that folder as the working folder in FRM pro
set to "program all" mode and put a tick in the "disk img mode" box. then press ISP and ure done :)

and trust me, i hate Sunplus frmom the bottom of my heart. because simple videos and even full length movies which run perfectly on an Anyka player (which i own) are a pain to watch in a Sunplus.

emmerick 20th Aug 2009 1:30 pm

hi metalboy
thx for the reply
yeah I did that , but once its finished the entire player is empty nothing is modded and i have to format my player, i dont care about that but nothing is modded once the proces is finished , maybe i modded something which isnt moddable, is the usb screen moddable? thats what i modded so far , if it isnt moddable thats the problem then I think , as you said the boot screen isnt moddable also . thnx

emmerick 20th Aug 2009 1:49 pm

i tried it like 3 times and now after formatting the AUDIO EBOOK etc maps dont come back :( wtf
and the modded parts arent modded on the player , any suggestions?

emmerick 20th Aug 2009 1:55 pm

when i extract the firmware from the pl;ayer (again) i can see the images i modded in the AIMG file, but on the player i cant see them modded , the normal images appear on the player , that probally means that the image I modded isnt moddable , like you said the light you life image isnt moddable so is the usb image i supose :(

emmerick 20th Aug 2009 2:15 pm

still not working :(
no maps when i press the music player icon nothing happens , wtf
you guys think my player is broken?
:(

metalboy94 21st Aug 2009 12:09 am

erm...do you have a backup of the original firmware?

emmerick 21st Aug 2009 2:32 am

i fixed it :) using the format function on the player itself :) but the usb mode seems not moddable :(

metalboy94 21st Aug 2009 3:24 am

yeh, the format thing happens to me too...
see why i say sunplus sucks?

emmerick 21st Aug 2009 3:33 am

yeah it sucks

emmerick 21st Aug 2009 8:23 am

metalboy youre right sunplus is a PAIN IN THE ASS.
i have to upload my new fimrware like 10 times to the player and after like 10 times the new images show up on the player , really strange ! :(
rockchip is simple edit the images and upload to player and youre done but sunplus DAMN! :S

emmerick 21st Aug 2009 1:57 pm

metalboy can you maybe upload your modded firmware? so i can maybe use some of your modded images on my player?
Once mine is completely finished i will upload it on this site , and btw : have you already found out how to replace the light your life image?

thnx!!

emmerick 21st Aug 2009 2:10 pm

I am now using magiciso to mod everything but magiciso know say there is not enough space , so i cant replace more images in the AIMG file. Can anybody help me with this?
