I am just wondering how to theme this player (if possible) and how to upgrade the firmware. Is it even possible:confused:? It is the Enova IIT-EW906. You cant find it anywhere on the web i tried and the website is not up anymore. I got it a while ago. iv attached some pics. Thanks :)

The menu looks like the SHOV mp4 players i'm struggling with at the moment. Even so, its internals could be completely different (and its appearance certainly is).

Best advice... If it works don't screw around with it. I have a dozen players to mess about with, atm i'm trying to get a full firmware dump from one that works, to flash the others that are dead. If i succeed to revive another few of them, i don't think i'll be trying to install any themes even though i'll have a working firmware.

The tools at :: S1MP3.de - S1 MP3 Player Firmware Tools are the only ones available, and they are dodgy at best. 3 years ago when i had my ipod clone, i made a backup with s1clone. When i tried to reflash it into the device to see if the backup was good, it warned me that the board IDs were different even though it had just been dumped from the very same player. I promptly clicked cancel and never messed around with that since, and my chipod served me well. I threw it away after 1.5 years of almost daily use because the battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore.

Now s1clone is the only tool that can recover those players i have acquired for $2 a pop, but even if i succeed this time i still won't trust it 100%. Since i've last played with it it seems it's gotten open source, but i don't see any improvements (the stupid semaphore timeout bug is still there), so it's one of those "only use if you HAVE TO" software.

semaphore timeout bug
This is a problem in the USB subsystem, not s1clone.

Like i said in my topic the problem can be avoided by setting the USB ports to 1.1. It isn't caused by 1.1 ports like wiRe said but rather the opposite.
