Re: New Player Review
@tadad1
yeah, it's a bit frustrating to know how hard it is to get the player that you really want especially if you already have one. Already learnt that it's no use to try flashing my MP4 player with other firmware as it won't work and I've tried so many times with different firmwares. Anyway, there's one seller claimed that all player he sells that can auto rotate have CTW500 inside, after your explaination I know that it's not always true. sigh....I hope he knows what he's talking about and not just assuming it has CTW500. The manufacturer should specify clearly in the packaging or in the manual the type of chip they use so it would be much easier for the consumers to choose what player they're goin' to buy. @Copycat most of MP4 player has more or less the same specifications as the one on your link above, although it looks elaborate they're missing some important infos i.e: whether it can play 120x160 landscape mode and at 16 fps smoothly and of course what type of chipset inside the player. CMIIW regarding downloadable/ upgradable firmware so far I haven't come across any sites other than this site and s1mp3.org that has them. Some of these Chinese manufacturers didn't even have website. |
bigmike88,
i still don't get what your auto rotate means, it is when playing video or viewing jpeg. well as far as i concern 1.8 inch screen is best fit with 160 x 120. if you concern when playing video, the rotating mode can be fix by editting transformsetup.ini. i am using amv converter version 4.0. i got problem with the video been play mirror. i fix it by rewrite the setting a bit only. bmpadjust = 2 instead of 0. And it solve my problem. i don't have auto rotate problem by the way. but i am pretty sure u can try my way. try bmpadjust=3. |
Re: New Player Review
That is the same as my ipod clone player. Everything looks the same from screen size, menu, except for the actual shape (as said, mine is an ipod clone).

Re: New Player Review
Hi, i was wondering if this device has a audio only function. For example, let's say i have a video but i just want the device to play the audio only. Is that possible? thx
|
Guest, There is no way to play the audio only on video files. You would need to preprocess your video and extract the audio then convert to mp3 and play as a normal audio file.
|
Re: New Player Review
anyone know if the audio jack is 3.5mm? and whether the 1gb really means 1000 mbytes? and where can i get the 2 gb if available. thanks
|
Amazing!

Re: New Player Review
Hey, i got one of those players as well. Now I can extract the firmware using s1fwx, but i can't upload it again using the mp3 player upgrade tool.
btw. my firmware is also 9.0.43 does anybody else encounter that problem? (the main issue is that when i close the player, i see santa claus riding on raindeers away.. want to fix that...) my mp3 player is this one: http://www.unibit.com.cn/images/676.jpg thx |
skullclamp
At the moment, s1fwx can't detect ver 9.0.43 fully so that is why you can't upload it. I think we just have to sit back and wait for the latest release of the tool in the meantime...... |
skullclamp, Although s1fwx will extract the 9.0.43 firmware it will not repair it which is why it will not load back to the player. I have emailed "wiRe" who makes the s1fwx tool and he tells me this firmware uses a flash type F648 that he has not seen before and a file ADFUF648.AP is missing from the extracted firmware. He suggested I rename an ADFUF644.AP to ADFUF648.AP and add it to the firmware but it made no difference. If you can obtain a Full Version firmware from your seller you may be able to edit that and load it to your player.

Re: New Player Review
ah ok, thx
i guess i'll just have to wait.. |
Re: New Player Review
is this player truly 1 gigs = 1000 megabytes?
|
Guest, As I have already stated I have the player in 1GB (Hynix HY27UU088G5M 8Gb = 1GB) and a 2GB (Samsung K9WAG08U1M 16Gb = 2GB).
|
Re: New Player Review
tada1, can you pm me the place or person you bought the players (2gb prefer) from. Thanks
|
Re: New Player Review
Nice player, do you know if it's 65000 or 262000 colors?
Thanks JF |
Re: New Player Review
does this player has a car charger and where can i get one? thx
|
Re: New Player Review
the thing i'm worry about this player(the matrix) is that on the site it said 90 minutes of video. That to me seems like a 128 mb of memory player and not 1 gigbytes player. 128 mb= 1024 gibits. can pple who got this player confirmed i'm wrong that it's really a 1000 megabytes player?
|
Re: New Player Review
yeah, it is 1 GB, i have currently 1 GB of music stored on it.
|
Re: New Player Review
I got one of these coming in the post, have a few questions...
where did you get that 'generic' cellphone case that fits it so well? I'd be keen to get one myself as the last player I had got its screeen cracked from minmal handling really. Hows the screen on yours lasting? |
Trouserpants,
Still my favourite player, Screen is excellent with no scratches or dings. The cellphone case I picked up at a $2 store in Warkworth. Still have not found a way to create a viable firmware backup so do not try to upgrade the firmware or your player will be toast. |
What video formats is it capable of playing?? 65k or 256k color??
|
veggen, AMV and I have a feeling AMV Convert Tool only does 65K.
|
Re: New Player Review
uh oh...
i think i've managed to break this one already. I tried using the record function and the player crashed. Now the files are all gone on it, and when i try to do anything on the computer with it, it says disk full. when i try to use any of the players functions it either says "Empty Disk!" or "Disk Error!" any ideas with this one? you've been very helpful already |
Trouserpants,
Does not sound promising, Does the player show up in Explorer, if so can you enter it? Have you tried to format the player? If not try formatting in Fat file system. Notify the seller immediatley that you are having problems that you are trying to fix but may have to return the player if you can not get it to work properly. |
Re: New Player Review
i have ms industrial miracle 2gb player, wich is just like one that tadad1 reviewed.
anyway, i have one small problem. i can't enter folders. in the operation manual it says to stop the music, then press menu, local folder, find folder you want to play, and than press menu again. if i do that it only enters the folder or exits it. and if i press play button it plays the first folder, no matter in wich folder i am. anyone had same problem? my firmware is 3.5.37. could that be a problem? how to upgrade firmware? |
Guest, Your player is running different firmware than the player reviewed which was 9.0.43. Your 3.5.37 does not support file browsing and you are only able to select folders. To do this highlight the folder you want and press play to load that folder to the music feature.
|
Re: New Player Review
i was guest with question about folders...
tadad1, i tried that. and when i highlight some folder and press play, it loads first folder. let's say, if i have 3 folders "aaa", "bbb" and "ccc" under folder "music". i select "music" folder, press menu, then go to "ccc" and press play, it loads folder "aaa". if i press menu when "ccc" is highlighted, it just enters that folder, but doesn't play or show it's files. can i upgrade my firmware to 9.0.43? how? please help, it's irritating to manualy go from one song to next which is 100 songs away... |
cadrre, Try going to the music feature and press the menu button then enter the Repeat setting and make sure it is set to Normal.
|
damn tadad1, how do you know all that? :)
thank you very very very much! now it works just fine! |

JayBee, The firmware is designed to run on a CTW500 chipset not ATJ2085 that is standard in most chiPods. Even though s1fwx will extract the firmware it will not repair it so the extracted firmware is unusable.
|
Re: New Player Review
Oh I see.
My player looks just like yours but has 3.5.37-001 firmware, I am not sure what chipset is in there though. Is there any way to check that without opening the player? I am still hoping that I could put newer firmware in the future because the player is great except for the missing file browsing feature. Thank you for your reply! |
JayBee, You can use EasyChips to find your chipset type HERE.
|
oh god...
i managed to fix it by formatting it like you suggested - cheers - but now its broken worse than ever :`( i was using it on a Mac at my course, and a little dialog popped up saying "unsafe device removal" (I hadn't actually disconnected it). when I looked at the player it was continually flashing the little hourglass icon as if it were loading, then it went black. Now it doesn't power on, weather or not connected to a computer. it has about as much function now as an expensive paperweight. Any ideas on how I could perhaps repair it before I start looking into the legalities of its warranty and stuff? any advice greatly appriciated |
Trouserpants, Does not sound good. When you connect your player to your XP does it show in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus Controller as a USB Mass Storage Drive?

would you reccomend i attempt taking it apart and trying a recovery like in the guide? or should i contact the seller |
Trouserpants, Is it the same player as in the guide from Lawrence "designdesign" on trademe?
|
Re: New Player Review
aye, indeed it is.
as an interesting development, i was actually able to get the player to power on the other day when it was connected to my PC, all the files were intact. when I unplugged it however, it said "low battery" and powered down, reverting back to its useless state. I am occasionally able to get it to turn on, but only ever for a few seconds unless it is plugged in. This would lead me to believe theres a fault with the battery and its abilty to charge |
Trouserpants, Did you receive my email? Did it help?
