Default 2" Rockchip MP4 Review

Bought this player from flash-items on e-bay:

It is the best mp4 I've had. Besides the limited capacity (only 512mb; I plan to expand it via microsd later), ugly uneditable firmware, and a couple of quirks, this player is perfect.

Features:
Basically everything that a normal actions chipset mp4 player can do, this player can do, but better. I won't go into too much detail because it'll be wasting time as most people here already know the features of these players. Screen - crisp and clear, Music-clear, can get VERY loud (volume can go up to 40 last time I checked). Video - excellent quality because of supported AVI format at 220x176 pixels. Radio - stations come in clear enough, haven't really been on the feature much. Photos - VERY clear, one of my favorite features. Text: Clear and easy to read, even though it wraps text to the next line and makes it harder to read. Game - A tetris clone that I played once, pretty good.

Can't really review recordings because I've never used the feature.

Pros:
  1. 2" TFT screen
  2. Extremely FAST interface
  3. Multitasking (eg. browsing songs while listening to music)
  4. AVI video support
  5. Expandable via minisd
... and the list continues (I'll add more when I think of it.)

Cons:
  1. Can't change graphics because not as much is known about rockchip firmware. Main menu is hideous to me, but other menus are OK. (But that's really more of a matter of personal preference.)
  2. Doesn't resume at last stopped place like on most actions chipset players.
  3. Can't listen to music and browse photos at the same time for some reason.

And that's really all I can find to gripe about. Other than that, it's EXCELLENT. I highly recommend it and give it a 9.5/10.

As in my other reveiw, here's a link to the auction and pictures I took of it.

Anne I just recieved my Ramos RM600 today. See the player here

http://www.mympxplayer.org/new-dap-f...sd-vt2618.html

It is very similiar to yours except mine has 2.4" screen, 1G memory and the updated firmware. It is a truely awesome player as you say. I would think that ramos firmware would work fine in your player whenever it becomes available.

The Aviconverter program version 2.1 should work well with your player.

Thanks Dave. I use the AVConverter version 2.1 for videos and it works fine. Wow, the Ramos does seem really nice.

As for the firmware, I was going to upgrade mine because the CD I received with my player came with several firmware samples which I assume are safe to make use of. However, the program that is used to upgrade the firmware which also came on the CD keeps saying, "Rock device not detected" even when the player is plugged into the computer, so I've given up trying to upgrade. Any ideas?

Anne

I believe you must enter the firmware upgrade mode from the players systems menu.
Could you upload the firmwares you recieved as there are next to none available anywhere.. Thanks

Dave

Dave - thanks. I'll upload the firmwares but I make it clear that it's a "use-at-your-own-risk" basis.

*edit: Oh, and one more thing: does yours resume at the same spot it left off at?

No it does not resume. But to offset that it does have a super fast fast forward.
