2nd generation shuffle clones

This is what I found on Ebay UK, the next generation iPod Shuffle clones, and they look very nice.

Shuffle Clones

Re: 2nd generation shuffle clones

Nice... but can this be a real 1gb capacity? I think not! He probably is taking so much to ship, just if someone sends it back, just get's his 7,99 punds and is screwd.

lite 25th Feb 2007 11:58 am

they do look proper , i havnt seen much of the smaller real shuffles , but i sure could mistake one of them for the real thing easily

Re: 2nd generation shuffle clones

These are very nice. I can get these but wasn't sure if they would sell good or not. I noticed the color black as well which Apple doesn't make the shuffle in black.

Hotboxx 25th Feb 2007 4:04 pm

Well, I just made a offer on one off the Shuffle Clones and I won it. I paid 38 Euro for it, shipping included. I will give a review when I receive it. When it looks good and the quality is okay, than it is a bargain at 1/3 of the Apple retail price. If not...........I loose 38 Euro. I'v ordered green color.

Re: 2nd generation shuffle clones

Do people actually buy that crap? Why? I thought the Shuffle was a unanimous failure, why's it still around? The original Shuffle sucks, the new Shuffle sucks 2 x as much, and a clone shuffle can only suck more. Mp3 only player with limited features, no file browsing, cost @ 28lbs, the price of a good 2GB mp4 player? Brilliant. If you can get people to buy that then marketing really is everything. I'd much rather buy a Samsung if its to be mp3 only, it will have an actual screen, and it will blow that little toy away in every possible feature, and cost less to boot.

ollux 26th Feb 2007 11:55 am

Yeah but it sure is small, like realy SMALL (I mean it!), I had one in my hands a week ago. And it's cute but whatever...

ps: oh and 38€ is like 1/2 the price of a real one down here... it's 79€.

I think this will be a big hit, I really don't need 1gig of space on a plyer that has no screen, but I like this form factor, the real shuffle clip is weak so I hope the clone picks up on it and improves... I just wish they had the orange colour...

also I heard that you can "fast forward" by holding down the >> or << buttons... I'm gonna get one if uxcell sells it.

*I think that apple made such a weak clip so that it does not crimp the shirt or whatever the material is...

please do a review when you get it and let us know how the paint job/ clip is...thanks

Here it is even 89 Euro, nobody knows why we have to pay 10 Euro more than the rest of Europe. Just for that reason I will never buy a Apple music player.

michiganjfrog 26th Feb 2007 12:33 pm

Re: 2nd generation shuffle clones

So the reason to buy the 2nd gen Apple Shuffle design is because of its size or clip? Well this 1gb player from Samsung is very small and has a very sturdy clip. Plus an actual screen, fm radio and no doubt better sound quality, as well as build quality. Did I mention its currently $20US shipped and is going to go soon?:

SAMSUNG YP-F1 ZW 1GB DIGITAL MP3 PLAYER

Sorry, unless I was giving one to a 12yr old girl, I can not see why the Shuffle is a better choice, especially at its price! Having shopped for an mp3 player recently (see my review of the Panasonic here, which blows away the Shuffle in every way and probably at a cheaper price), to me the great advantage of getting a smaller mp3 player is that you can forego the irreplaceable lithium battery that only lasts 5hrs or so. If, for the same money or less, I can buy a unit with a "real" battery (aa/aaa) that can last 40 hrs or more, and be replaced for pennies from any sales counter in the free world, I find that a no brainer... I know the original Shuffles were considered a bomb. How well are these 2nd gen ones selling anyway?

Hotboxx 26th Feb 2007 12:40 pm

I think michiganjfrog hates the Shuffle :-)

Don't take it too serious, the shuffle is in my opinion just a nice gadget.

michiganjfrog 26th Feb 2007 1:01 pm

Re: 2nd generation shuffle clones

Well I wouldnt say I "hate" the Shuffle, or that I take it all that seriously... its just an mp3 player, right?! I've never eveb seen the new Shuffle in person, let alone tried it in order to properly hate it! But from all I have seen of Apple and their adherents, I think people are too quick to choose the "Apple option" (which is usually a more expensive option), allowing Apple's marketing or design to be the biggest influence instead of letting "common sense" rule. I think that no matter what the product, if its made by Apple, there are much better equivalents out there at lower prices! They often get little respect or attention because they have different designs (I dont think its a coincidence all of Apple's products feature that round clickwheel....).

With the original Shuffle, what became apparent in review after review I read, is that people were paying more for *less* of a player, in comparison to the competition. In just about every sense of the word (except connection to iTunes). And yet, Apple seems to have sold quite a tidy sum of Shuffles nevertheless. (It may be considered a design failure to most but to Apple, even a design failure seems to sell well!). I'm sure you'll be happy with your Shuffle clone nevertheless... and I can see the appeal of this player (simplicty and size). I too would like to see a hands on review of the unit...

pmilladcs 27th Feb 2007 9:01 pm

i think that the shuffle clone is a peice of crap. why? well, right now i'm saving to buy a new mp4 player. one of my friends lets me use his ipod shuffle first generation cuz he has an ipod video. the only thing i like about the shuffle is that it switches threw songs like a normal mp3 player.fast. right when u press the button. not like the nano clones. that means that the shuffle clone will go any faster? i dont think so.
that is why i think the shuffle clone is a peice of shit

ollux 28th Feb 2007 1:11 pm

Let's say it's the smallest 1GB player in the world. I would say thats kinda cool, so it's all about the status, who cares? I just don't think that the ripoff has the exact same size and maybe is out of plasic instead of metal. So then it would even look like shit and I would say bad deal, but we don't know.

Smallest in the world?

It is the exact same size and made of metal. In fact, it uses the same aluminum extrusion section that the metal pod does - it's just cut shorter.

This one is also made of metal, is really small (1" cube), goes up to 2GB, and has an oled display. It's really cute, I was thinking of getting some of these.

Well, as promised here is the review.

First I was shocked from the delivery time. I bought it in Sunday 25 February, and this morning Thursday 1 March the mailman delivered the pack allready. I guess that is a new Ebay Hong Kong record.

First impression is good, even very good. These Chinese guys can really copy anything now. They pack the fake shuffle in a real fake fancy Apple plastic box.

In the box there is a Shuffle player, the usual unreadable users manual, a 3.5mm!!! headset and a 3.5mm to USB cable.

The appearance of the shuffle player is extremely good, nice green anodised aluminum, the clip works good and the control buttons are easy to use, they respond very good.

Then the problem started, my Windows XP computer won't recognise the device. I will try to solve the problem later, if somebody has any suggestions??. Lucky me, I also have a Apple iMac at home. I plugged it in and it was recognised right away. I could tranfert the songs very easy and the shuffle player works perfect.

The sound quality is very good, clear sound, I used the Skullcandy headset.

So, the general impression is very good, the fake Shuffle player is a nice and cute gadget. I paid 38 Euro for it. That is 10 Euro more than I would pay for a FMP from Uxcell. I am shure that the price will drop soon because there will be more on offer on Ebay soon. Untill now, I only found 2 Ebay seller who offer this mp3 player, and one German Ebay seller was offering a 2 GB version, not shure it is real capacity or hacked.. Considering the Apple price from 89 Euro, for something that is 95% similar, I would say that the real rip-off is for sale in the Apple shop.

nanocopyuser 1st Mar 2007 3:27 am

Sounds nice, but very pricey compared to other mp3/mp4's & copies.

I just got a Baby Nano and yes, it has a display :P And the price is almost half...and it works great..
http://www.uxcell.com/uxcell/retail/...n0wht1024mp001

Anyway, is it as small as a real shuffle? If they drop in price very much, cheaper than nano clones, I might get one :P

Hotboxx 1st Mar 2007 3:46 am

In the review I forgot to mention the exact size. After taking measurements, it is 100% the same size as the real Apple Shuffle.

The price is compared to the FMP or Baby Nano from Uxcell very high. I also bougth a Baby Nano from Uxcell some time ago, and it was almost 50% cheaper than this Shuffle clone. But I guess the price will drop soon as the offer will get higher. Hopefully Uxcell will sell them soon for a good price.

Hotboxx 1st Mar 2007 3:40 pm

In the meanwhile I solved the problem that my Windows PC did not recognise the Shuffle player. I used the USB port on the backside of my PC, the ones direclty to the motherboard, and then the Shuffle player was recognised without any problem.

This afternoon I went to a local retail shop that sells real Apple Shuffles. I have compared them and there are more differences:

1) the real Shuffle has 2 control buttons, the first is the on/off button. The second one is the button to control the option normal play of Shuffle play. The Shuffle clone does not have this button, it allways plays shuffled.

2) On the real Apple Shuffle, the small spring that holds the clip is invisible. On the Shuffle Clone, it is possible to see about 1.5 mm from the spring end.

3) The on/off and shuffle/normal play buttons are made of aluminum on the real Apple Shuffle. On the cloen the (only one) button is made out of white plastic.

4) The position of the controls in the button control ring is on the clone like a mirror image from the original Apple

5) The clone costs 38 Euro, the Apple costs 89 Euro LOL

Re: 2nd generation shuffle clones

sounds good, i myself hate anything by Apple and hate the shuffle's more.
looks like you got something that may be high quality. enjoy

PUSHPLAY DIGITAL 5th Mar 2007 11:44 pm

The shuffle clones are great little players to compare it to the baby nano is a little unfair. Because the baby nano looks very cheap. The shuffle looks just like the $80 apple.
Please keep your eyes open to real seller's because
true size 2GB and 4GB are out for the shuffle.

HubbleMart 6th Mar 2007 12:13 am

The shuffle clones were ready with some factories in early December. I didn't pay attention to them because I didn't see any reason why someone would not spend and extra $7 to 10, and get a FMP.

The shuffle clones are cheaper (about $7 to 8) than the FMP, in wholesale.

The FMP is much more in demand because of the small difference in price.

Baby nano looks actually cool :P

pmilladcs 6th Mar 2007 8:17 pm

i like the shuffle more than the baby nano because the shuffle responds better, and it's much smaller. i dont see a reason for the first shuffle not to have a screen though. i dont think one could fit on the new shuffle, well i think that the shuffle clone is very good compared to the real one. much cheaper, and exacly the same.

Err0r 10th Mar 2007 10:35 am

Nice! I have always wanted a 2G shuffle, but I was amazed to read that even the size was the same. Perhaps I'll get one of these then... :)

What is the exact difference to a real 2G Shuffle?

Re: 2nd generation shuffle clones

If your in the USA, apple.com has refurbished 2nd gen shuffles for $50. Look in the refurbished section of the store. They only have the silver color. If you want a clone, dealextreme.com and kiadomain.com both have new and old clone types for under $20 shipped worldwide. Both are out of HK and shipping is slow 2-3 wks to me in the US.

Where can i get that ?

kevx 24th Jul 2007 12:44 pm

I bought two of these for my kids, who are 6 and 8. They can't be beat! Foolproof and indestructible. They clip firmly onto a sleeve or collar instead of in a pocket or with an additional holder. At $24 including shipping, they rock.

Buzzygirl 24th Jul 2007 4:24 pm

Dang, that cube is kinda cute!! HubbleMart, where did you find these?

booboo773 25th Jul 2007 6:59 pm

Buzzygirl, UXCell has some for sale. Not sure where else, but I've seen them around.

booboo773 25th Jul 2007 7:01 pm

My bad. UXCell has a 1gb Pink one. That seems to be the only one they carry.

Buzzygirl 25th Jul 2007 7:02 pm

booboo, thanks, I will check UXcell and see what they have! Like I need another MP3 player... ;)

booboo773 25th Jul 2007 7:05 pm

I know the feeling. Can't seem to quit buying these darned things. I finally got my dream player in the Meizu M6 so I think I'm done. The only other one I would ever consider would be a black Meizu to match my white one.
