Meizu clone Review
Hi everyone!
When I purchased my first MP4 player a while ago I was very pleased by the reviews everyone gave me so here's one back :D The player I bought is a 2gb 2.4" TFT (320x240!!) rockchip meizu clone (it calls itself a mini MP4). You can find it here. It has 6 buttons, a standard USB port for charging and data, a small speaker (witch can make quite some noise), a NOT STANDARD headphone plug and a MINI SD slot. My first impression of the player when I unpacked it was very good. When I first booted it I was impressed by the VERY clear screen and the nice design. In the menu I can chose: Music, Video, Photo, Text, Record, Explorer, Game, and settings. When I click music it just plays every music file on the player. And if I click menu again I can brows through folders. The Video playback is really good. It plays XVID (.avi) files at 24 FPS at high resolution. I can definitely watch a whole movie on it. It has a build in mic which performs good I think I don’t use the other options very much so I wont mention them. It is a GREAT player but there are some things that could be improved: -I’m missing the FM radio function (but I’m sure there are players like this one that do have it) - There is a not standard headphone plug on it (now I have to buy a conversion thing) - I’m missing the function to play a map including the subfolders (or I just haven’t found it yet) - It can handle a limited number of subfolders I think you can go 5 deep or something like that. - The folder browsing is slow. If you have hundred folders (for hundred artists like I have) it takes ages to reach the middle one. But I wrote a little piece of software to fix that. It reorganizes the folders in alphabetical Maps. For example: the maps “Red hot chilly peppers, “rolling stones”, “robbie williams”etc. can al be found in a map called “R”. You can download it Here (please give me a feedback if u use it. I’m thinking of making a version with MUCH more functions so if you like it please tell me!) I still have two questions left: Is it possible (In ANY way) to get new/modify the firmware/themes on a rockchip player?? When I bought this player I asked the seller (Twice!!) if this player has MINI SD or normal SD. He said (twice! and the ebay site said it to) NORMAL SD. so I bought a 2GB SD card. Now I got it has MINI SD    what should I do? Thanks for reading! Chris |
Re: Meizu clone Review
The ebay auction you link states that it has a 'mini SD' slot.

Re: Meizu clone Review
that's not the link from which I bought it
this one is it says SD/MMC and it also says 2" at the package description (it really is an 2.4 inch, I even measured it) |
Re: Meizu clone Review
Nice, it acts like the action chip Meizu clones I guess, just to slow to handle large volumes, but it plays avi at 24fps, not bad.
Here's a review about the action one, it does have a radio, too bad yours has not, otherwise I would get one. The action radio sucks. Meizu clone with Action chip Resell the sd-card? |
Thanks for the review and pictures. I have always wondered how these were!

chriroz - nice; looks like the rockchip version of my actions chipset meizu clone. Even though yours has a 2.5mm headphone jack, at least it plays AVI, has expandable memory, and a 2.4" screen. Even though it doesn't have FM radio, yours definitely beats mine lol. Mine lags majorly due to the practically full 4gb memory. Ah well. I got what I paid for.
*Edited to add: I also just purchased a real 4gb meizu m6, so when that arrives I'll do the comparison (which probably isn't even necessary because the real meizu will definitely win lol) |
Re: Meizu clone Review
Hey, Princessann1026, I thought you said you weren't going to buy any more mp4 players!
 |

Re: Meizu clone Review
A MEIZU Clone!!!!!?????????
:D Ok it looks like a Meizu M6 but being a rockchip is more closer to be a Teclast C260 clone!!! Being a rockchip device it can't act as a Meizu, cause Meizu brings the best firmwares available for Chinese products, sporting truly multitasking in all its functions, which is not the case of rockchip machines. Anyway, to be a Teclast C260 emulator (which is a better word) is not a bad option, on the contraire, latest Teclast firmware (01.09.009 CI) have added lots of functionalities that makes them very valuable. I suggest you to mount in your device a Teclast firmware (any version)... if it works you'll have lots of advantages that you wouldn't imagine... first of all you'll be receiving regular updates of your firmware, that only a known company as Teclast can do. You'll have a site to look for support (www.teclast.com) and a fansite (www.teclasters.com) with lots of clues for your device. If it don't work... well... you weren't as lucky as I was. If you have the proper backup of your firmware... it worth to try what I suggest you. Let us know what happen  |
