Default Review : Video Ipod Clone w/ 2 Megapixel Camera

Hello everyone, Im back with another review. I have reviewed other players such as the Rockchip Mp3 Player and the 1.8" TFT Player . Since then, I have seen several people ask about the video ipod clone and I wanted to provide a comprehensive post that talks about the details of the player. Unlike last time I am unable to post the entire review on here because the review was actually formatted for wordpress which includes the image formatting and so if you would like to see the pictures and description please view the link provided. Here is the general review:

Recently, I received two 1GB Video Ipod Clones (I believe they are available in 2GB and 4GB versions also). I was actually quite impressed, they play music, video and ebook files, have a video camera/still camera, FM radio and a picture viewer. The menu options are as follows (in order): FM Radio, Video/Still Camera, Picture Viewer, Ebook Reader, Video Player, Audio Player, Games, Explorer & Settings. Overall, its a great player in terms of features, design and durability and thereby I would say that if youre looking for a 1-4GB Video Player that the Video Ipod Clone is a fair choice.

Thanks for the review. I was actually looking the review of this product. I have couple of questions if you could answer.
Hows the video playback quality and what file formats does it use? Can it play in DivX/Avi format as I want to avoid AMV? Does the video fill the full screen or just a part of the screen if AMV is the used format???

Also, when it takes pictures thru camera, are they JPEG format, or can they be converted to JPEG format and vice versa?? Same for video recorder, what format it records in and is it easily convertible?

Does the ebook reader read .txt files??

Thanks one more time for reviewing this product.
As you have experience, any suggestions for a player same feature set as this, but better????

The video playback quality is fantastic. The screen is nice and bright and the video conversion software provided with the player is exactly what anyone would want. It doesnt require conversion to amv, the software actually converts any video file to the avi format and even resizes it to fit the screen resolution. This provides for a crisp image and less headache during conversion. I have converted .vob files, .wmv, other .avi, xvid, quicktime, etc. file types and they all worked flawlessly. The video fills the full screen depending on how the video is formatted. In the review, the video was widescreen and therefore it leaves small black bars at the top but if its regular (4:3) then it will fill up the entire screen and I have tested it and it works perfectly.

As for the camera, the camera takes pictures in jpg format and so it wont need conversion. The video is taken in .avi format and i'ive converted it with no problems.

The ebook reader does read .txt files and fills up the entire screen, which is perfect!

As for suggestions, I have tried other players but this seems to do it all for me. You could go for a bigger screen size, but then again isnt 2.5" a good enough size? maybe more memory if youre a music and video junkie but i think this player was perfect for people like me, who like to listen to music often and watch videos once in a while, as for the camera, its a lot better to say that you have a camera on you all the time! I think its a great player overall and i do suggest it to anyone who is interested in purchasing one!

How well does the built in speaker work when watching video? Do you have to boost the volume of the audio during processing for the speaker to be useful? Thanks.

Hey bsaylors, I know you posted a link to second review of this player. Somehow, this forum seems to have deleted those posts. Can you please repost that link.

Many thanks for your time and effort man...

One thing I didn't see in your reviews is the efficiency of the video file format used by your player.

I have an Optimus X RockChip player, 2.4" 320x240 pixel screen that plays XVid video format. I've found XVid to be a very efficient compression format as it will compress, with good quality video and audio (24 fps, video 300 kbps, audio 96 kbps), to a file size of about 180 MB per hour for these specs at 320x240 pixels.

What is the per hour file size for the format your player uses? I have Sunplus chip player that requires a much larger file size per time unit than my RockChip.

Thanks for all the info and the time and effort you've put into your very useful reviews.
