Default Onda vx525 Is a Big Let Down Review

This is a quick review of the onda vx525.

Dont believe the Hype!

I was really excited about getting this player but it was abit of a let down! After seeing all the stuff all over the net about the vx525 using new Flash UI and then seeing that mp4nation was going to release this player as the F:flo or flash flo had me really worked up about it. I could not wait so i got the onda.

I ordered the player from DK on wesnesday sept 24 and got it on saturday sept 27 the shipping time was the best. So I was really happy.

Then I opened the box and power on the player. The colorfull onda start logo comes on then the flash ui & icon's all looks very good.

After using the player I find that I already basicly have the same player. I have a fake M-Touch clone. That is exactly the same as the onda vx525. The icons & logo is the only thing different on the onda vx525 and the fake m-touch. WR runtime is in no way a new system for these mp4 players they are mostly used in the unbranded v80 and mtouch clones. I did not know this until now but so meny people is hyping this f:flo onda vx525 thing up so much. Action & onda should be ashaimed of them selves for all the hype. Yes I saw the video review on mp4nation but it did not click that this is the same player as the old v80 clone until i had it in my hand. I tought onda was coming with something new not a repackage of some old software that i allready had for 5 months. The onda vx525 & mt clones both only play video at 320x240 res

If you have a S:flo, Teclast m26, V80 or Mtouch clone this player will let you down. But if you do not get it or a mtouch clone they are about the same price but the clone is alittle cheaper with more features but with the onda you may get support.

Really my fake m-touch was a better buy then the onda vx525

1.) Falsh games /vx525/mtouch clone same
2.) Video playback /vx525 / mtouch clone plays more formats
3.) Music playback / vx525/ mtouch clone plays more formats
4.) Ebook reader / vx525/ mtouch clone same
5.) Photo viewer / vx525/ mtouch clone same
6.) Touchscreen / vx525/ mtouch clone same
7.) Memory slot / vx525 / mtouch clone same
8.) Camera / mtouch clone only vx525 does not
9.) Camcorder / mtouch clone only vx525 does not

Look this a a video of the same m-touch clone that i have on youtube!

Speed touch same as vx525 more features

well sorry to hear this from you on this player, shame you rushed in and bought the player in 2gb though

you are right WRTIME is not new, what is new is that actions is now in on th game and we are seeing branded player with this system and also a renewed interest in the WRTIME system
now what this may now mean is that we will see some development and updates on the WRTIME product

i am surprised that you never clicked it was the same as the one you have, it was mentioned several times on mp4nations blogs and forum and BTW, that is one fast delivery time

have you loaded up the latest firmware from onda, there have been 2 updates released so far and hopefully this is where the onda may win out, in that we can see some improvements and developments where your player may not

this whole system (wrtime and actions) is causing a little buzz in china and abroad and to me it seems that the 525 is a sort of tester system to see how the market reacts, but there was a big conference recently in china with actions and REAL talking to global customers about the system, and also about the new actions processors due from actions, so i think this is all starting slowly with possible expansion of the whole flash gui based player system, we will see

i have resisted buying so far as the f:flo will be available in 8gb for 80-90$ which is a major bargin and i am well aware of the players shortcomings in certain areas, like video, but its a curiosity thing with this player and i will be getting the 8gb as soon as it is released

BTW how was the battery time on this player??

It already came loaded with the newest firmaware version on it V2.20.

I got 10gb total for $89.99 2gb internal 8gb micro with a free speaker dock.

You can also get a m-touch clone 8gb for $64.99 on some china sites with the same wrtime on them.

I was trying to wait for mp4 nation to get the 8gb but the deal was too good. ops:

The battery life is ok nothing to great. You maybe able to get 10 or 12 hours of music out of it, but i have not fully tested it yet. I will test that out at work and give a full update then.

The music volume is so low compared to my s:flo and the UI transtion are really slow and slugish. I was just expecting alot more because of all the hype.

Make sure you completly shut if off. when the screen goes black there is no indecation that its still on.

I do belive that the firmware updates are going to be alot better but onda is not known for adding new features or fuction to there firmware updates.

I'm going to try and load the vx525 firmware on my mtouch clone. I will give a up date soon.

the mtouch clone is based on different chip - ANYKA so it will not work

we are hoping that we can get into the firmware soon and create some custom apps and functionality, if we can get some form of kit to develop with

you are correct i remembered that after i posted it.
They are just so much the same. That I'm pissed off.

I would say the wrtime works better on the ANYKA chip. The Action chip is much to slow it my be improved in the firmware but for now its bad.

After using it all day today I can say the battery last about 8hr's that is with music on for 6.5hrs and games for 1.5hrs so it lasted my workday.

I dont think the chip may be powerfull enuff to handle some custom app's.

I loaded some games on it that i had on the mtouch
but when I played them on the vx525. It slowed down to a crawl. So we will see when a kit is out.
