Post Review: 4GB New Slim 1.8"LCD MP3 MP4 Radio FM Player

Hiya,
This is my 1st review here and I felt this urge to share the greatness of this dinky little player.
I bought this roughly 3-4 years ago from an Amazon seller based in the US. I was hoping to get a cheap upgrade to my 2GB player back than. The reviews were bad or neutral as usual for most off brand chipods (ha i just discovered that word). But I bought it anyway. This was the 1st time i was buying a player online (usually the cheap ones in walmart work fine for just music). The functions were enticing. I never realized that a music player could do so many things. So, since it was Amazon, I took a chance and bought it.

*****Picture below******
At first glance, I realized I was stupid for not reading the size specifications...it's really small. But whatever, I got over that. Didn't wanna pay return shipping. So I put a whole bunch of music on it and it all worked without a hitch...EXCEPT that the player does not recognize symbols in the song titles...so instead they came out as random gibberish. But still played just fine. Standard plug and play was a good thing. It had a CD and manual...useless.

Pros:
Real 4GB built in memory. heh
Plays MP3 files
Plays videos (amv)
Plays ebooks (txt format write off of notepad)
Shows lyrics (never used this function but it's there)
Plays games (it has like 3 or 4 generic ones)
Plays the radio pretty clearly indoors and out
Voice recording and playback (this saved my life during long lectures!)
Phonebook/contacts (which i've never used)
Plays jpeg and bmp images.
Battery life holds up for about 4+ hours of just music playing.
Can create playlists by make different folders while hooked up to your pc.
Has 2 themes for the interface to choose from.
Dropped it a few times and still alive.

Cons:
The 1st thing i had a problem with was getting the darn videos to work. I had converted them and converted them and it just wouldn't work. I contacted the seller who sent me a link to download this free converting software that he had used for his own player...I couldn't get my videos to load on to the converter...turns out i have to convert the videos to avi and then convert them to amv...what a hassle...i remember sitting there for hours trying to figure it out. But I did and they worked fine. The quality was no where near what the preloaded one looked like...but whatever. I wasn't gonna watch videos on that tiny screen anyway.

"Random" isn't so random....i've heard the same song come up a couple of times before it moves on to the other tracks. Only randomizes the folder that u are currently playing.

Sound is OK....not great. But still it was cheap and it's better with better headphones.

The interface....srsly, press and hold menu to go to the home screen. Press play to exit submenu...where are the directions??? Graphics on the interface are meh...they don't look like someone made them in paint thank goodness lol. But still meh.

EQ modes might as well not be there because they all sound crappy.

No case...

2.5mm headphone jack! (this is the worst thing in my opinion) I had to use an adapter and after a few years, the adapter has ruined the player...it keeps going from stereo to mono and i have to jiggle the adapter for it to go bk to stereo. I tried using the original headphones without the adapter and it does the same thing...so it's the players problem

************************************************** ***************

Now I'm off to get another player from ebay that has 8GB...off brand as usual and i've read so many reviews in the past 3-4 days it's insane. I hate hearing about the hacked memory. I'm buying from another US based seller and we've had a lot of back and forth about the player (it's not like this one..it's the one that looks like an itouch but doesn't have the buttons on the bottom. It's thinner with the black front and sliver back and a camera. 3inch). He has extended his warranty to 90 days for me (his usual is 14 days). He said that he has sold many players like this and has never had a fake memory problem. But if that were to happen or it stopped working in 90days, I could return it. He's feedback is 99.9% positive. And i read the negative/neutral ones and they aren't about this particular player.

So...i hope that it's worth the risk I'm taking. Money's kinda tight right now and I need a new player bcuz my poor old one is driving me crazy with all the stereo/mono changes..my poor ears feel like popping all the time. I'm hoping that it'll hold up for at least a couple of years so I can get my money's worth.

Opinions are appreciated from the wise who have bought before
