Received this Android PMP/MID from JTshop today.

It was very well packed and arrived safely just 12days from placing the order, JTshop provide a tracking number to track your delivery on line.

Mains charger, "complimentary" :) earphones, "Usb on the Go" cable, mini Usb lead, User instructions, Screen protector and of course the MID device itself.
The MID looks much nicer than the photos on the website,it's the improved version with ipod touch-like rounded corners and back :D

Would be interested to see what you think about the player and what mods you can do with it too.

Comes with a nice selection of Apps, pretty much everything you might need to get you started.
Android market, file browser, task killer etc

Takes a microSD card, tested out a kingston 8GB SDHC and it worked fine and so
did the USB on the go with thumb drive. I recommend getting a microSD card to store your .APK
backups on.

The support website address is printed on the back, handy to keep a backup copy of the firmware
from.

This version comes with only on/off menu and back buttons no volume buttons,unlike the photo on the site, but I prefer the
look of this newer version, you can always use the on screen volume controls.

Didn't seem to support flash when browsing in the web, but that's good or bad
depending on how you look at it, in my opinion, good!

This smart PMP has built in wifi and it worked all over the house for
me, it has the RK2818 chip and 256MB of DDR ram

It's all drag and drop with a standard usb connection all you need is the right driver
if you are using windows XP and you can copy your games applications and media straight across.

Couldn't get youtube videos to play from the browser, but I found a free app that actually
does the job better.
This is all on a device thats cost half the price of an 8GB ipod touch!

So far I have not been able to fault it, it should meet anyones expectations provided
those expectations are not too high, remember this is not a PC! and a few apps may
be a bit laggy but it can run almost everything on its around 600MHZ processor.

So far it has been money well spent.

It's nice how you can just copy the apps straight onto the player. It beats a lot of the older MP4 players which are pretty much, 'what you see if what you get' and you can't do much with them.

• What's the screen display like?
• What's web browsing like on the 5 inch screen?
• Is the navigation easy on the player?
• What's the weight like?
• Can you see yourself using this while on public transport? Or is it just too big and bulky?

Keep up the good work.

Bringing the excitement back
 

What I've noticed in the last few weeks is that I'm excited about MP4/PMP players again.

The excitement is coming back to me, something that I remember so well about 5 years ago when I first got into it all.
The problem with the MP4 players is that they are rather limited in what you can do to it. The s1mp3 players that were released 5 years ago were easy to modify due to Wire's s1mp3/s1res tool. But all that has changed due to firmware updates and other chipset providers coming out. Wire also stopped his development of this s1res/s1fw tools as well.

Now with the Android PMP coming out and with more being available, I'm getting excited about being to 'play' with it, trying to modify it and customising it without the limiting of the MP4 players..... There are also more resources available for the Android compared with the MP4 players which are really locked down and the SDK kit not being released or available.

ANDROID, here we come!

1)Good as any I have come across, viewing angle isn't great but this isn't a TV I always view straight on anyway.

2)Again fine for occasional browsing, get Opera mini loaded on, do watch out for viruses if you use the browser a lot and as Android becomes more common, viruses WILL become a problem.

3) Easy after you have played around a bit, no need to bother with the instructions, unless you read Chinese.
4)Not so light, anyone know how much a G sensor weighs?

5) You need quite a big pocket, but probably worth it, they don't come any smaller than 5" with wi-fi anyway,apart from the phones for some reason, it also has a built in G sensor but no tv-out, never saw the point of tvout myself, I prefer a set top box anyway.

Btw FileExpert is a good free file manager that can transfer stuff from your PC
with wi-fi.
The built in loud speaker is quite good too with no buzzing or rattling at high volume.

Nice to at last have a device that you don't have to resort to hacking to enjoy.
btw my son has claimed this and ditched his ipod touch, so I have had to order another for myself, same spec but a different model, so expect yet another review! ;)

glad to see you got one and a wifi one to boot, wifi just makes life easier, if you are going to get the next gen in media player you may as well get all the bells and whistles

i tried RB but it wasn't that good, but that was BETA - problem with android and music is that android does all the sorting - music apps just tap into this resource, im not sure if RB does its own library though,another app that i like and prefer is poweramp, its got some great features, good EQ and great sorting ability

anyway have fun with it, as for portability, well this size has been the most popular in china for that last couple of years as focus has been on video, for music they use their phones and these are quite pocketable, well, 4.3 is better
