That error is caused when you have a chinese character in the filename of the firmware. You have one between the 5 and the B. Rename the file removing the Chinese letters and try again.

Yes basically I found almost any firmware that will install successfully whilst you're in adfu mode should make the player recognized as a flash drive. You'll probably need to use mp3tools to format...

This happened to me too after I the installed wrong firmware. Windows recognized the device as adfu but all future attempts to install any firmware, including firmware that had successfully installed...

The clear plastic screen protector is just stuck on around the edge with thin double sided sticky tape, put your fingernail under a corner and peel it off.

Thank you thanasisgr but unfortunately neither of the 1.8" firmware .bin's at that site would bring my player back to life, still recognized as 962mb flash drive. My screen is definately 1.8" but...
