How to replace memory chip?

I have a nano clone which was showing 2gb but is actually much less. I want to know if i can put in another memory chip, say around 4GB? if yes, how to do it? Please help.

I have a 2 GB nano clone. Windows was showing it had 2GB memory in the properties tab but on trying to format only 998 MB was being shown.
