Reading your second post, I doubt the cable is the problem. Never mind :oops: But I did have to resolder my cable the fist day I owned my player. The symptoms were a blue screen with the hourglass...

Probably your cable. I had this same problem. Take the cover off the connector on the usb end of the cable (the one that connects to the computer) and check the connection to each wire. Resolder...
