this also could be a fact the chips could be incorectly stamped because it is actually 100% stable runing with its 474meg partition now guess the only way to find out for shure is to contact samsung...

i think you are right i may have lost 3/4 of the chip in some way this may account for the lost size i think i will just use it as a 512 now as it is stable at that thankyou for all your help ...

testdisk encounters read errors after cylinder 60 is this normal or is the chip screwed now

i think im almost there the only problem left is i dont have a backup.log in testdisk could you post it and the location it needs to be stored or should i create it using another device ????

well... after being a tec for 6 years and solving countless naging computer problems

im finally stumped ...

i have played with the stupid software included with the player and allso the one ...

my player has the following chip

K9WAG08U1A

reported as without a doubt 2gig

when i tryed to recover it using these instructions to-2gig from its incorect size 4gig

it now thinks its...

according to information on this site the folowing chip

SAMSUNG 631 K9WAG08U1A

is supose to be 2gig

1. is this correct
2. if so is there a way to fix the changes made by mp3 player disk...
