Try to follow the "dead player recovery guide" in the top of this rubric CAREFULLY and be patient (the common mistake :) ) It did work with mine, install a new AdfuUpdate.inf file from the download...

allright, I'm a little further now, windows detect my MP4 as a USB drive, I can copy files to it but I still see a white screen on my MP4.

Most of the "dead" players seem to come to this point and...

That's the point, the upgrade programm say's that I first have to format the device before installing the firmware, but I can't reach the device in XP.
