But, could someone explain the relationship between the full firmware, and the dump.bin? I loaded the full firmware (both 9.0.48 & 9.0.50)...

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I loaded frimware 9.0.50, and the player showed the appropriate signs of life. I loaded the dump.bin, and it died. Bad luck.
Do you know where to down...
