OK. Well I tried another movie .VOB and the same happens. Only around a third of the movie is converted! Does anyone know of a good .VOB to .AVI converter I could use to try lattesurf's suggestion....

The first conversion was also in .VOB format. MP3 Utils does recognise / convert .VOB files. DVD Decrypt can be set to rip the film as one large .VOB file which allows for conversion...

I have successfully converted one full length movie using MP3 Player Utils 4.15 and that works fine. However, I am now attempting to convert a second full length movie and both 4.15 and 3.68...
