Default playlists

I have the hyfai mp4 player that looks like the ipod nano. I was wondering if it is possible to create a playlist for mp3s. right now the songs seem to be inserted in a random order when i transfer them to the player from my computer. any ideas how to customize the song orders?

thanks

Hi,

I have asked some manufacturers of Mpx players and their players doesn't have this function. I have about 5 different models of MPx players and I can't find this function. HOWEVER, in saying that, there is a way to work around it.

Rather than creating playlists, what u can do is create a FOLDER instead. Try doing this:

1. Create a folder ie: "Music for Walking" and store all the music u want to listen to in that folder.

2. Go into the MUSIC section of your player. Press the "MENU" button then choose "Repeat".

3. Then choose "Folder".

This should now just repeat the songs in that folder.

Having a playlist would be much easier as don't have to go through the process of creating folders and moving music to it etc.. but doing this method should achieve a similar thing.

Hope this helps. Let me know if that works or not.

Cheers,
Binh

I thought about doing that and i already have 3 folders for music but i also have about 30 songs in each folder. I dont think this player supports that many folders any way. I emailed the manufacturer and they said they dont know if any new firmware is planned yet. so i guess im out of luck.

thanks anyway.

Yeh, I've got a few contacts with MPx manufacturers and they prettty don't release firmware updates. It just means an extra cost for them that they are not willing to incur. So basically as soon as the board provider updates anything, then they will use that.

If I hear anything, I will definately mention this on the site.

Thanks,
Binh

I have one more input regarding organizing the tracks. first of all create different folders to keep diffrent type of music and in each folder append the track name with a number prefix. these numbers can be your choice of sequence.
For example the track names can be 01dakgkafg, 02lkadh, 03fdjgdaks.......99ghfgeg. the player will play them in that sequence only regardless of their names.

my method was similar, i have folders named after "moods" and then inside subfolders by artists, and inside the tracks themselves, regardless of the album. but my file naming is already with a useful order. i name them as
Code:
artist - album - number - track.mp3
so they are already ordered in some way... i think...

As far as I know, the player plays the songs according to TIME it was copied onto the player. So, even if you number your tracks/songs, it will only play them in the order they were copied onto the player. Example, if you copy song 12.mp3 first then copy song 9.mp3, it will play the 12.mp3 firstly before song 9.mp3.

I think that's right from memory.
Let me know if otherwise.

yes, it seems so. but my naming scheme uses two digits for track number, even if below 10, so i have them arranged by name in windows, and usually it copies in order when transferring them to the player.

Hi everyone. I found that if you use Window Media Player 9, you can creat a playlist and then creat a folder, after that you syns to MP3/MP4 Player. It will play this playlist for you.
But in WMP 10 or later, I can't use this function to creat a playlist.
