why does the PC ask to format the player?

HI All!!

after downloading the songs and videos and images on my player (256 and 512), the player was playing absolutely fine,
but once i connected the player once gain to the PC, the PC did not recognise the player as it usually does, but instead
the moment i click on the removable disk icon to access the player thru the PC, the PC asks whether i would like to format the player?

why should this be happening?

and on checking the properties of the player, it shows 0 capacity
but actually there is data pre stored

and even if i say yes to format, the player is not getting formatted?

these players are coming up with a new problem everyday

Hi techkrazy,

Have you tried connecting it to another USB port on your computer instead? What happens? Same thing?

Also, how are you 'removing' your MP3 player from your computer? Are you just take the USB cable out or are you stopping the device first through Windows then unplugging your MP3 from the USB?

Let me know what happens after you try various USB ports in your computer.
