Files getting corrupted
Hi there people,
i'm having some problems with my mpx player. When I transfer the files into the player and play it with winamp for example, it works perfectly. But when I disconect the cable from the player and try to listen the musics they don't play, and the player turns off automatically. So I plug the cable again, and when I see the files are corrupted. I don't know what to do. Some musics works and some doesn't. I take the cable off with the safety procedure, so i don't know what might be causing the corruption of the files. The player is a 2Gb iPod Nano clone. Do you guys have any idea what could be? Thanks, Bruno. Sorry if my english is not very good, i hope you understand it. =P |
Re: Files getting corrupted
Wow, that could be a list of things causing that problem.
Have you tried using the MP3 player disk tool and formatting the player? Also, how are you transferring the files onto the player? Do the files corrupt if you transfer them on and play them through the player, without playing them through winamp using the player as the source drive? |
Re: Files getting corrupted
No, I didn't tried to format it because at first i didn't know that I could. =P
Do have to install the firmware again after doing it? To transfer I plug the cable in the player, windows recognize it as a driver, I open the driver directory and copy the files onto the directory. Is there another way to do it? The files are corrupted even if I don't play them with winamp. Just transfering and trying to play on the player doesn't work, the player won't read it and turns off. But some files do work on it. I have 20 files on it that play perfectly. What do you think I should do? Thanks, Bruno. Sorry for the bad english again. =P |
Re: Files getting corrupted
Hi Guest,
It sounds like either the memory on your player is faulty (or needs a format), or you've run out of storage space on your player. Be warned, I've read a lot of posts out there that mentions after formatting a player, they have a DECREASE in memory storage. This was due to the fact that you can 'fool' the player nd computer in showing a higher storage level than what it actually is. Example, a lot of people only have 120MB after a format, even though originally, it showed up as "1 Gig" etc... So, just be cautious when formatting your player. You might be a nasty surprise afterwards. But if you do, you will know whether you've been cheated. Format your player using the "MP3 Player Disk Tool" from the MP3 Utilities 3.68. You won't need to reload the firmware after the format. I would suggest a "LOW" format option. Just to be save, back up the files on your player to your computer. Try that and hope that helps. |
Hi Bihn,
I opened the Disk Tool and I got these informations. [img=http://img482.imageshack.us/img482/7792/mpxplayer9ve.th.jpg] It says 2Gig in 'Format' but says 115Mb in 'Partition and Encrypt'. Do you think that this might be the problem? Is there anything that I could do? Thanks, Bruno |
Hey Bruno,
The partition and Encrypt section gives you the ability to create a few partitions and and encrypt it, so it's not really relevant. Make sure you set the "encrypted disk capacity" to 0MB, otherwise it might cause you problems in the future with it asking you for a password all the time.... Just choose the [Format] tab, choose "low" and then [start]. Good luck in formatting it, but please be aware that you might get a nasty surprise that the disk capacity gets lowered that's all. |
Hey Binh,
I tried to format it but I got this error msg. http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/2532/error3go.th.jpg What should I do? Should I try the others formating types? Full or Quick? Thanks, Bruno |

Bruno, What about formatting your MPx player just from within Windows itself? Just by right clicking your "I:\drive" and choose "format". Just make sure you format it in FAT format (very important!). Let me know how that goes. |
hi there,
i had the same problem about getting all those corrupt files. what actually happens in my player is that when i connect it the second time i find the folders and songs all misplaced and sometimes i find duplicates of songs. Plus i also get weird files like "USBS`U2■." and i'm not able to delete or rename those files. So the only option i have left is to format the whole player. |
