Default mp3 tool 4.00 does not uninstall!

okay, im not sure if anyone else is getting this but, it seems like after trying many times to work the amv converter, it does not work! it screws up the file. However i have just tried the other version 3.68 and it works fine. The other problem with MP3 Player Utilities 4.00 is the fact THAT YOU CAN UNINSTALL FROM IT! I have tried many times and as of now, i still cant get it off my computer! I need some help, and I want a working tool. Thanks.

the error message im getting seems to be "there is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part as part of the setup did not finsh as expected. Contact your support personal or package vendor".

That seems to be really dumb as there is no way of uninstallin this piece of shit. Please help its driving me CRAZY!

So, which version would you like to use?
If you want to uninstall version 4.00, u have to UNINSTALL version 3.68 firstly before it will let you.

Best to uninstall version 3.68 and version 4.00 and start fresh.

I recommend ver 3.68 as it's more stable.

Hey thanks for replying! The above person was me and i decided to register after posting.

I had 3.68 before and it worked really well, but some of the movies i was trying to convert did not seem to work, so i uinstalled version 3.68 off my computer completey.

When i installed 4.00, and tried to remove it, it did not let me, and told me the error message above.

So basically, what im trying to say is, 3.68 was already uinstalled when i installed 4.00 and now for some reason its stuck..

thanks.

Duff,

It sounds to me like those having problems w/ ver 4.00 may simply have a codec issue, EG lacking current compress/ decompress 'codecs'. Try this:

1- uninstall amvtools-- ALL VERSIONS ( NOTE: If supplied uninstaller does not work for 4.00, make sure 3.68 is uninstalled 1st. Then go to control panel/add/remove programs and unistall 4.00 that way. Reboot).

2 google and download MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC. Install it. reboot.

3- reinstall ver. 3.68 or 4.00

4 - you should try the codec pack available in the downloads section after trying the above steps without sucess (if it does not work). MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC should have most / all of the codecs already. you can run into trouble w/ too many codecs installed.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS EXACTLY, AND LET US HEAR BACK FROM U

Hey man, If your talking about DiVx code, I have had that downloaded/installed way before I have had the amv converter, and even with that, it will not uinstall! I dont think it is code part that is screwed up, Rather the Program itself. It tells me that there is a file missing in a certain location. If you needa screen Shot in my next post, ill be happy to show you how crappy 4.00 is!

Hey Duff,

Yes, screenshot would be great. It would help a lot.
What happens if you try to REINSTALL ver 4.00 again? Will it let u do that? What is you try reinstalling ver 3.68? Will it let u do that too?

I think what Iridium meant with the codec stuff was for your earlier post saying that "some of the movies i was trying to convert did not seem to work". That's mainly due to a codec issue and generally it's not installed so the amv converter doesn't know how to 'decode' it.

1st step: Click the image to open in full size.

2nd step: Click the image to open in full size.

3rd step: Click the image to open in full size.

Wtf is this? Is this a joke? this is what happend to me during the uinstallation of 4.00. As you can see, i am not lying to anyone.

In regards to your question, I can not install 3.68 as it tells me there is an other version of it already on my comp. As in code, I have the DivX package to codes.

Try this:

Click on [Start] then [Run] then copy this whole line and paste in the run box:

Code:
MsiExec.exe /I{7784A172-61F1-445E-8368-601607E0DD22}
Then click on [OK] and see what happens.
Let me know if that works or not.
