Shuffle/Random Mode Issues

Hi everyone, I'm new here. It's great to see a kiwi admin to this site, makes me feel very safe and comfortable :)
I've had a quick look through these forums and found a couple of topics similar to this, but none that describe this exact problem.

I've got a 1Gig black Atic nano clone. Here's my dilema:
Firstly, the shuffle mode won't shuffle across directories.
Secondly, when I put all the mp3s in one directory (so the player will shuffle thru all mp3s), it'll only recognise 99 files :(
So using either method, there's no way for me to shuffle through all my mp3s!!
It'd be awesome if I could solve either of these problems.

Cheers

Welcome to the site and forum.

Majority of these players can only take 99 files in one directory and that's it. No more unfort. Unfort they're not as advance as the Apple iPods are with the shuffling. In actual fact, if you play around with the shuffle and take a closer look at the 'shuffle', you'll find there will actually be a 'pattern' in the files it shuffles as well.

Shuffly only plays files from one directly as far as I know (can anyone else double confirm this please?).

So yeh, sorry to give you bad news.

Re: Shuffle/Random Mode Issues

thanks for the speedy response. yeah, i thought the answer would be something like that. it's a cheap item with cheap features. it's a shame tho, cause it's the ONLY gripe I've got about it! also it seems odd that the count looks like xxx / xxx when it can never play 3 digit "tracks"
so there's no firmware updates or anything that will "fix" the shuffle or "fix" the 99 files max prob?

Unfort, the manufacturers don't tend to 'update' their firmware. It's from China, so to save on cost - "if it works, don't try to fix it".

If they do release an update, it will most likely be specific for the board, so it won't be compatible with your board. If you try to 'upgrade' it, most likely, it will give you a 'dead' player.
