[ SOLVED] installing amvconvert ?
hi everyone,
I've found my way here coz, like most people I suspect, have just bought cheap nano copy player off t'interweb. 1. player works fine but cant install the conversion software, it says that it cant find another program it needs but doesnt say which, also the version of mediaplayer that is on the cd tries to install but looks odd and doesnt install fully anyway so the question is what software do I need on my pc for this to work? 2. would I be wise to make a copy of my f/w now before anything goes wrong or will the one on the cd suffice? I think thats all for now but I've got a feeling I will probably be asking something else soon I'm running windows ME, mediaplayer 7 thanx in advance just realised how to do it |
Re: installing amvconvert ?
It sounds to me like a codec issue, EG lacking current compress/ decompress 'codecs'. Try this:
1- google and download MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC. Install it. reboot. Go to preferences and set file associations..... 2 - download amvtools from here: http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...le&file_id=118 3- install ver. 4.00 4 - you should try the codec pack available in the downloads section here: http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...file&file_id=6 after trying the above steps without success (if it does not work). MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC should have most / all of the codecs already. you can run into trouble w/ too many codecs installed. And yes please read and follow guides re: backing up firmware available on this site. FOLLOW THESE STEPS EXACTLY, AND LET US HEAR BACK FROM U I |
Re: installing amv convert ?
bibz1st,
Before installing the AMV Convert tool, check to make sure you have Windows Media Player 10 (or higher) installed as well as DirectX 9.0 (or higher). If not, you can download it from our website under the [Downloads] --> [Tools] section. If you're still having issues installing it, read this Knowledge Base - How to: Solve problems installing AMV/MTV Converting Tool from here. If that doesn't solve your problem, then post an exact error message you're getting when trying to install it and we'll go from there. |
Re: installing amvconvert ?
I got it installed, when trying to install mediaplayer there was a load of icons and text missing, prob need to d/load language pack or something to read it properly, anyway kept pressing the tab key to shift the focus cos the mouse wouldnt select what I thought was the ok button and it eventually began to install and the amvconverter works well.
the problem I have now is with mediaplayer, after copying a couple of cd's it now wont let me do any more nor will it let me play anything. does it need to be activated or registered or can I safely uninstall it and use an older version and still use amvconvert P.S I know I havent put SOLVED but wasnt sure whether to start a new topic or just reply many thanx just realised how to do it |

Best to try version 3.68 of the AMV Convert Tool instead. It's more stable than the newer 4.00 version. Try uninstalling the 4.00 version and install the 3.68 version instead. Let me know if that solves the problem. |
