Re: mp4 player video:format error
Hi
I am just new to this forum and I found it because I was having the same problems that you describe. My Mp4 player was supplied with ver 3.5.? of AMV convertor and any video I converted would play the first frame then display the message "format error". I downloaded Ver 4.0 from this site which gave me the same results. Then I noticed Ver 3.68, also available for download and it works perfectly. I have been using another bit of Freeware called DVDx which is available at http://www.labdv.com/dvdx/ withthis peice of freeware you can rip straight from a DVD then use AMV 3.68 , drag the amv file on to your Mp4 player and it should working fine. It seems to me that the only version of AMV that works is Ver3.68, Good luck Magicdj |

What happens if you try downloading the .AMV sample files from our website? Try playing them on your player and see if that works. Let me know of the result. |
Re: mp4 player video:format error
legendmani, et al,
Could be several things: 1 What is the original file format? it must be avi, mpeg, or wmv. Rm, rvm Mov, etc will not work. 2 What is the resolution? If it is inncorrect, it may display errors. Check it this way: when playing converted movie in amvplayer, right clik on it and go down to 'property', this will give resolution, etc. Make sure you converted using the proper res. for your player, IE 128x128, or 160x128, etc. 3 uninstall amvtools 4.00. Install ver. 3.68 from downloads. If you have a 1.8" screen, you will need to edit AmvTransform.ini file. Open it in notepad, insert this string in place of existing string: VIDEOSIZE=128X96(8;10;12),128X128(8;10;12),160x120 (8;10;12) this adds fullscreen resolution for 1.8" player. 4 or it could be ahacked player. Read here : http://www.mympxplayer.com/viewtopic.php?t=382 Post what worked for you.... |
Re: mp4 player video:format error
I had a similar problem. I have been able to get around it, but quite honestly I don't know how. I copy a file to my player, and it doesn;t work, yet if I try to do it again, it might. Some files I have had to copy several times. I can't figure out yet what causes the copy to work sometimes, and not others. What's even wierder is that I have found that sometimes if I copy the file and try to play it in the AMV player (from the "H" drive) it works fine, but when I go to play it on the player itself, it gives that error, and then it won;t play in the player anymore, either. But then a few more attempts to copy, and suddenly it works.

It sounds like a problem with the flash memory and a FORMAT of the player might solve it. Try formatting it, then see if that helps. |
Re: mp4 player video:format error
Admin, thank you for the info. If I format it, will I lose everything on the player? Do I need to do anything else after formatting before I start to use the player again, or is it useable immediately after formatting?
Also, is formatting related to the firmware, or will it not touch the firmware? Thanks. |
jammb,
Formatting the player will remove all the files you have stored on your player but should not effect the firmware which is generally stored in a locked sector of the drive. |
