Hi guys,

Two things:

The 8 Gig memory topic:
-----------------------------
The cost involved for an 8 Gig FLASH player would be HUGH! There's no doubt about that.

A show of hands, how much did you get your player for? Also what size is it?

Player restarting:
--------------------
Check your 'dark', 'darkle', 'sleep' and 'off' settings in your player. Make sure they are not set to "10" or something. Change it to "0" instead and make sure you put in a clock time. Then try playing your songs and see if that works.

Binh,

Do you mean only those with "4" or "8" Gb players?

Has Hynix or Samsung come out with a true 4 or 8 gigaBYTE chip yet?
If so, the chip alone must be close to $125- $150USD, not counting the player itself !!

I have contact with about 5 different mpx manufacturers in China. None has ever offered me the 8Gig players. The highest they have offered me is 2GB's. I also get the 1 GB players from them, but nothing more. Even those are fairly expensive-ish....

USB Flash drives are availible in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB so it's only a matter of time.

won't be cheap right now for them.
The biggest selling point for all these mpx players is the PRICE. (am I right?)

Though cheap, they have good benefits from the iPods in the sense they have built in FM tuners (majority do) and video playback for a very good cheap price. Not the most user friendly, but as I see more and more people on this site and what can be done to them, it's BETTER. It's so easy to 'customise' your own mpx player and reskin it.

You read so many people having 'dead' players attempting to update the firmware of their player then having to open up their player to fix it. I'm not sure how many people have tried updating the firmware of their iPods and then opening their iPods up to fix it again?

Glad to be amongst a group of dedicated mpx users than those "how I do get iTunes to work because I don't know how to copy my music files onto my iPod" users.

Badboy, I've exactly the same MP4 nano clone. Bought it last week in Beijing. Was marked with 4G.
Got the same memory problems. Didn't believe I was fooled, but opened the unit.
 I fell too in the memory trap.

My nano clone MP4 player has the Samsung K9F1G08UOM (128MB) memory chip.
Board is marked MP:693C-SL

Did you open your player? That wil immediatly reveal the reality.....

Welcome to the club.

Shimon

BTW, I wanted to add the pics of the open player, memory location, board ID etc, but I learned that to add a pic I need to store it on the web. PLS give me a site where I can put these.
