[solved] Problem converting music files
I Need Help! I just got a new nano ipod 2GB which is suppose to hold up to 1000 songs. I couldn't find any way to put the music into my ipod so I dragged and dropped it and could only get up to 99 songs, its taking too much space, also I don't know how to work with the AMV convert tool to which is to make it smaller gb, Now I'm STUCK. Needs Help PLZ. :(

Re: NEEDS Help.
i would suggest that you format your player to verify that it actually has 2 GB and isn't faked..
then copy the songs again remember that the player can only read up to 99 songs from one folder... so you have to make several folders if you want to play more than 99 songs and put a maximum of 99 songs in each 1000 songs is mostly an exaggeration since this would have to be songs with a really low bitrate... (or something like the commercial mp3+ codec) for 2 GB with an average of maybe 4 MB per song... about 500 songs would be maximum with an acceptable bitrate as for the amv converter.. first of all you should use version 3.68 not 4.00 since that often produces "non playable" videos but what exactly is the your problem with the amv converter, could you be a bit more precise? |
The Problem is whenever I try to convert musics, only a couple is converted while the rest of them ends up with an error.

Re: NEEDS Help.
you want to convert mp3s with the amv converter?
the program is used for videos not for songs.. |
What do you mean by creating new folders to make more space available?
|
Re: NEEDS Help.
its not to create more space.. but most players can only handle 99 files in one folder.. so if you have more files than you need more folders to put them in

What are you using to convert your music files? It seems you have two different problems to this post, is that correct? |
Well, for starters a 2GB Nano will not hold 1000 songs unless you encode them at about 32kbps  and that will just sound rubbish.
Most players (except mine :D) have a 99 song limit in a folder which isn't to do with the space, but to do with how the player is made If the player is reporting the wrong space (i.e less than the amount you are supposed to have) contact your seller and get a refund IMMEDIATELY The AMV convert tool is for videos, which I assume is what you meant, so you will need Windows Media Player 10, The codec pack in the downloads and MP3 player tools 3.68 if you did mean music then there is no surprise that your stuff isnt being converted it is made for videos, I am not sure about the sound converter though (havent tried it) perhaps thats what you mean? |
