Default Formatting MP4

hey all, i followed the tutorials to backup and modify the dump files for firmware of the mp4 players and now i want to format mine. and after that send the firmware back on, is that possible? or do u have to have some form of firmware on the player in order to access it?

or do i just right click and format the drive, then use the program to send the firmware back on?

cheers
- quick response would be appreciated

p.s - reason y i want to format is because i can't see some of the files on the drive, its only got 200mb free from 2gig and i can't see or access the other music..

thanks again

Swish, If you followed the tutorial your dump file should be ok.

A couple of things you should be aware of though, first is flashing your firmware has a risk, if something goes wrong your player may no longer function. That said flashing with your own backup dump.bin should be ok.

Secondly there have been reports of players being sold as 2Gig units that infact are much smaller sometimes as small as 256mb and have been modified so that they appear to be 2gig. Formating these removes the hack and you no longer have 2gig. The fact that you are having problems could be an indication of this, but at least if you format you will know.

I hope all goes well. Let us know the outcome.
