Of course that means a limitation of 2GB. When i hooked up my player, i noticed it was FAT32 (therefore able to support drive capacity greater than 2GB) and after formatting it as FAT32 again, it worked just fine. I couldn't format it with the "MP3 Player Utilities" program though, obviously because it saw it as FAT32 but wanted to format it as FAT. Windows reported is as being 3.99GB after the format.
.

There's something I can't understand, the FAT32 file system as an intrinsic size limit of 4GB for file size, while the FAT16 file system as a 2 GB limit for file size. But it doesn't mean that the max size of the HD is 4 GB for a FAT32 player.
Or probably are you referring to some implementation issues regarding the hw layer?

I'm just trying to understand, it's not a flame.

The newer players have FAT32 support in the firmware, and can use both FAT16 and FAT32 filesystems.

The maximum size of a single file is irrelevant to the actual capacity of the flash memory.

how can is it possiable to hack the memory of mp4 player

vanjanidilip , by altering the partition table. So that the memory chip reads a larger capacity than it really is.

Another one of the many nailed with this, I'm afraid, this time via power_player88 on eBay, who is getting some feedback from buyers pissed about hacked flash drives, though not as much as might be expected (I suspect a lot of people are leaving positive feedback and then discovering that what they bought was not what they thought they bought.)

I made the discovery pretty quickly when I dumped a lot of data to the thing and it suddenly barfed up blood partway through the loading phase. Looking around to figure out what the problem might be led me here, finally, and lo and behold, there was the method for checking what the size really was. On my case, it's a 2Gb unit instead of a 4Gb unit. Given the price, it's perhps not such a hideous thing (especially as I got free shipping), but I'n still annoyed enough to leave negative feedback and put in for a refund. Let's see if I get it.

This unit, in fact: http://cgi.ebay.com/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...m=170172423348

I notice he's listing some now as "Real 4Gb" -- I think he's getting nailed on this.

Wow, so many rip offs, I found this site prior to purchasing on Ebay and I got no hassles, I spent a little more but got a better player. I purchased an Onda Vx878 I also made sure it wasn't an oem or unbranded player. I am very happy spent $65 have large 2.4" screen expandable micro sd memory slot and would recommend to all wanting to save. In the end you save little go with a name brand and check feedback on every buyer ask questions too.
I have been a buyer and seller on Ebay and most problems result from people not communicating and wanting a Walmart price for everything. I hate that I have to buy these from china so I may as well spend a little more on a quality product. It still beats buying an Apple product with it's propreitary software.
Staying Cool while dealing with your seller is a very good Idea, be detailed when filing claims with Ebay & Paypal if you want to win.
